Default Please share your hot chocolate recipes

Please share if you have a favorite hot chocolate recipe.

I decided to add trying new hot chocolate recipes to our activities since the little ones are not going to be able to come and visit this year.

Over the weekend I made this slow cooker peppermint hot chocolate. I took it over to have a tasting with my mom and 92 year old grandmother. I told them that we are tasting a new hot chocolate recipe every week and then we are going to rate them. One marshmallow means yuck and five marshmallows means make it again, maybe even this season.

Well, this activity went over well with my grandmother. She even thought about it and wanted to change her marshmallow rating. So apparently this activity is happening this year. Now I need new hot chocolate recipes to try. So please, if you have a favorite, link me up.

What a fun thing to do with your grandmother

Mine is nothing fancy, but this is what we make - the ingredients are per mug so just double/triple, etc. for each mug you make.

Measure milk out in each mug, leaving a bit more than an inch or so at the top of the mug - we use almond milk but of course any milk will work

Pour milk into pot on stove. For each mug add 1 heaping teaspoon of cocoa powder (unsweetened) - by teaspoon I mean a teaspoon that you eat with, not a measuring teaspoon. Add 2 teaspoons of sugar, a pinch of salt, and a splash of vanilla (probably about 1/2 teaspoon). Turn on heat and whisk until hot enough for you. Pour back into mugs.

I like mine plain, my daughter likes to add a candy cane to stir or mini marshmallows.

Love this idea but my recipe involves a packet of Swiss Miss and hot water or (if I'm really feeling fancy) hot milk. I'll have to try some of these -- it never occurred to me to use my crockpot to make hot chocolate.

This is me, too! Even right down to the hot milk.
