Princess Bride Fans Look Here;)
As you wish .. . LOL
I need some food suggestions for a Princess Bride (the book) party/book club I'm hosting at the beginning of May. You ladies are some of the most creative gals I "know", so can you give me some ideas of themed food I could serve to a group of about 20 people. Thank you in advance! |

I've never read the book, but based on the movie...
I think the key will be labeling all the food with cute little signs on toothpicks or something. Maybe some "Humperdinckel" (pumpernickel) sandwiches, cookies in the shape of a Buttercup and make sure you serve your coffee or tea with a bowl of "Iocane powder" (sugar) for them to add to it.

Of course, R.O.U.S. come to mind, but definitely not to incorporate into your food! *lol*
I really like Tracy's ideas. If I think of something else... I will come back and post. |

You could make an "As you Wish Dish" and have it be some yummy desert...
You could also have giant size goodies... or maybe something with a mask...or sword...could have little appitizers with swords in em... |

Another idea with the Iocane Powder is to have tiny vials of it tied to punch glasses and serve the glasses with punch in it.
Fezzik Fingers (sausage wrapped in biscuits). Princess Buttercup Butter Cups. (Reeces wrapped in paper doilies) |

Kinda cheesy, but maybe some of those haystack things, like for Wesley as the stable boy? LOL! Oh gosh, that sounds even sillier now that I've typed it out.

Food: Serve Iocane Powder Punch in plastic goblets. Any punch mix will do; it’s the name that makes it. It might be fun, depending on the crowd, to selectively add food coloring to some of the goblets’ contents so a few people with stained mouths turn up “poisoned.” Then you’d also have to have “Ressurection” Chocolate Truffles, round ones that look like the medicine Miracle Max used to revive the mostly-dead Westley. Also, since it’s movie time, popcorn, but maybe do something out of the ordinary with it. Add bowls of peanuts scattered around with signs that say, “No more rhymes now, I mean it! Anybody want a peanut?” Some salted, some candied, some otherwise flavored. If you want more substantial food, add items from the wedding feast (in the room where Inigo Montoya confronts the six-fingered man), including roasted chicken, grapes, and a wedding cake.

OMG this is totally one of my fave books ever! And of course you gotta love the movie.
Maybe make a cake shaped like a big rat, and then along with forks the kids get wee (plastic) swords to cut up their slices? LOL I don't have much too add, everyone's suggestions are so good! |

Well I'm a BIG fan of the movie, but I cannot think of anything to add to this amazing list from the movie. BUT, if you want some great desert ideas fit for a princess, my darling daughter has the ca-yutest little princess cookbook. It has some of the sweetest things in it . . . some examples . . .
Pink Princess Crown cookies Pretty Princess Puffs Rasperry Tea sandwiches Fairy Tale Fondue Pink Princess Pudding Fairy Berry Tea Sparkling Princess punch (with colored sugar crystals all around the ede of the glasses, TOO CUTE!) If you're interested in any of these recipes, or pix, let me know and I'll send them.

Here's the recipe for FairyTale Fondue:
3/4 cup heavy cream 12 ounces white chocolate chopped 1 tsp vanilla makes about 1 1/2 cups Heat the cream in a medium saucepan over medium-low heart until hot, about 2 to 3 minutes. When hot, add the chocolate and stir until it is just melted and smooth. Stir in vanila. Transfer to a warm fondue pot. Serve with your choice of fresh strawberries, banana slices, appled wedges, pound cake, lady fingers, and biscotti for dipping. There's also recipes for: Angel Cloud Cupcakes PPink Princess Cake Cotton Candy Cupcakes Pretty Princess puffs Enchanted Unicorn Horns (using icecream cones, so cute!) Magic Fairy Wands (using large pretzel rods, dipped & decorated!) Raspberry Tea sandwiches Classic Cucumber sandwiches I just love this book, can ya tell? I'll be happy to share any recipes. da
