Default For those of you at a weight you are comfortable with

are you able to maintain your weight without tracking calories/following a plan etc?

Yes, I am. No problem maintaining my weight.

Unfortunately, I'm comfortable being quite a bit overweight. Probably not the answer you are looking for....

I'll just say that every time I get to a comfortable (not skinny, just comfortable weight) and I stop tracking, I gain it all back (like right now...argh!!!).

I'm not currently where I want to be because, ya know, I just had a baby, but I don't have to track as long as I stay semi active. When we take lots of walks as a family, go to the park, etc. I can maintain my weight... when I get lazy and spend too much time on the computer, I gain weight. The inactivity combined with the fact that I snack a lot when I just sit around is just bad. lol

Once I stopped being sick last year and started putting weight back on I was happy. When I started going over what I wanted to be I started panicking. lol Under doctor's orders I wasn't supposed to diet in a way that would make me lose weight again so I just made sure I was up and doing during the day. Lots of dancing. Can't say I dance well, but I would do dancing while doing all my other normal housework, that way I'd be getting in a semi-exercise while doing other stuff too. That helped me a lot. Plus controlling what I snacked on and how much I snacked on during the day also helped a lot too.

No, I can't do it without weighing myself. BUT, my doctor requires I weigh myself daily because of my heart issue- I have to track it every day because if my weight shifts considerably I have to call the doctor because it means I need to go to the hospital.

So... I'm the wrong person to ask.

Unfortunately, this is me, too. From observing family and friends, I think there are people who can do it. But they mostly seem to be active people with a good metabolism who were never overweight to start with.

That's not me. I'm down 90lbs. I just lost most of it running (training for a marathon) and I'm still running, so it's pretty easy to maintain under these circumstances. If I stopped moving I'd bloat right back up because momma loves to eat. lol

i'm not SUPER strict about watching what i eat, but i changed my lifestyle too. i know about how many carbs i'm eating, i know about how much protein i'm eating and i know what works for me and what doesn't. so, yes and no.

helpful, right?

*giggle!!*...

my son's pre-school has "muffins with moms" every year - we call it "moms with muffintops" day, LOL. Seriously though - if those super high-waisted jeans from the 80s would come back into style, we wouldn't have a muffin top problem, LOL!!

My goal weight is actually at the top of the healthy range of weight but I know its the weight that I could realistically maintain.. I'll never be "small".. I have been small but it was with drastic measures in the calorie department and not about to go there.

I've been walking and exercising.. not eating as well as I should be but hopefully one day I'll get all the pieces working properly at the same time.. lol

I'm a little over my *dream* weigh... I was on a diet to reach this weigh 5 years ago, but the past 2 years I've gain a few kg...
I always need to be careful with the things I eat (don't really track carbs or calorie). I just try to eat better. If I don't, I gain weigh.

There was a time when I could. I used to be underweight as a matter of fact and couldn't put on weight no matter what. Before that, when I weighted OK, I never had to take care about what I ate or did, I just kept my weight.

Something must have happened to my metabolism though, because one day my weight started going up and I've gained 21 kg (46 lbs) in 5 years (I was 40 kg/88 lbs before and am 61 kg/134 lbs now). Since I was struggling with underweight issues for years I still feel uncomfortable about the necessity to lose weight, but if I can come up with some measures I think they will have to be adhered to permanently unless another miracle change in my metabolism follows.

In short - once you have a tendency to put on weight I think you have to maintain whatever helped you to get to your comfort weight.

Although, at the moment I am not, when not pregnant or "recovering" from pregnanct weight, I am happy with my weight and it fluctuates within 5-10 lbs that I am comfortable with.

It's tough for me to weigh so I just "know" when a certain pair of pants fit that Iam there and as long as they continue to fit I'm satisfied. And no ... i don't track....ever.
