Default Scrapping bad habits?

Do you have any... or several? I mean bad habits in scrapbooking... I know I wrote it wrong in the tittle... blame my spanglish... LOL!

For me is taking too much time to pick a kit. I guess is something I kept from my times when I CT for several designers and stores. Since I didn´t use stock pictures, was always important to choose the perfect picture for the kit.

Now that I´m trying to catch up my personal scrapping, is the other way around... I spend more time finding the "right kit" in a sea of more than 3,000 kits stashed from 10 years scrapping than the actual time I use on making a layout.

Maybe this is why I love challenges so much, because narrow down my search to few designers and a theme, color or such.
Still have to browse more than 600 previews and always end up using those designers with the initials on the first half of the alphabet

How about you? Any bad scrapping habits??

For me it's starting a page getting halfway through and getting an idea for my next page that I'm excited about so I start that one.... before I know if I have 4 or 5 half done pages that I need to force myself to finish up. (Got 3 on the go from last night.... LOL)

Mine is probably repeating things, layouts often get done over and over, or kits used repeatedly. Or then I go to the other extreme and try to not use anything the same...

I am in the midst of fixing one of my bad scrap habits now!

Since my stepson has never lived with us fulltime and when he is with us he is anti-photo and usually just hangs out with DH, I have very few photos of him. The ones I do have were taken by DH and are usually badly composed, dark, blurry, have no particular story behind them, or all of the above. I have gone through all my files, pulled all the photos of him, and am scrapping them. Most don't have a story but at least he is now better represented in my albums.

I'm with Oriana about taking too long to make scrapping decisions. The absolute biggest problem is deciding which photos to scrap. When I have too many from a week or a photo session, I get rid of the worst ones easily and then spend way too much time narrowing the rest down. Once I finally have my photos chosen, I spend too long on kits and template.

There is nothing wrong with using a template

It would be like if you were a sewer or knitter and saying it was bad to use a pattern

this is true. I always feel like I'm cheating though.

Oh sweetie if I have 3 original pages is too much... LOL
I ALWAYS use templates.
I strip them down as I don´t do much clustering, flowers or foliage, then flip them change them until the template fits my pictures and the kit I'm using.

Sometimes it ends as a total different thing and sometimes is a copy cat... but I don´t see it as cheating but inspiration

that's me since I've been back! I NEED that template to start off with. I change it so much normally that it doesn't look the same but.....

I was with the non-printers, but I printed 3 100 page books early this year so am caught up!
I don't journal enough and my photos are poorly organized so it takes me a long time to find the photo I want!

Sign me up for the non-printing folks... I'm so behind, outside of the handful that I print to tape on the wall for my son's birthday, the rest are not printed.

Another bad habit is that I start way too many projects and have hard time finishing them... Project Life - still working on 2012-2015; Dec Daily is still not done for 2012, 2013 and 2015. I'm like 5 vacations behind.. ugh.

Mine is the papers! I feel I do fine with the clusters and such, but the papers is what always takes me the longest!

I'm so glad I started journaling lots on my los (although I still don't on all of them). I have no problem sharing my stories and letters to my girls with all of you scrappers, but I still don't share them on my personal fb page for my family to see. Most of what I journal is for my girls, the rest is for me lol.

I used to take forever, then I started using templates I don't see it as cheating at all! I used to take hours to finish one, but with templates I get so much more scrapping done. And yes, it is fun to change them around, too. I use some of Cindy's journaling templates twice - once for journaling, and I'll use them again for big photo los. And I can still enjoy a good arty type lo - but I do use temps most of the time. I'd never be as far as I am in my scrapping if I didn't. It's not all about the creative process for me, so I don't mind temps at all, it's more the satisfaction, and joy I get from putting the stories down.

As for my own bad habit, it's printing. I don't have a single entire year finished, and I'm so unsure if I want to do them in books or single pages. That's one of my scrappy goals this year, I'm going to get the early years done (I have less photos of the girls' first few years, so they'll be easier) and I'm determined to have some years completed, then I'll decide if I want to do books or single. I'm stumped. I know I'm going to print all of Chloe's with little stories to her just for her, and Cait's just for her. But then unsure if I want to do an album for each girl of the rest, or just do one and let them fight over it someday

Aside from printing, my worst habit is paper choice -- whenever I start a layout, I try ALL the patterned paper and it drives me nuts because once I settle with a chosen paper and I'm done with the page itself, I start changing the patterned paper again again until I *most often* settle for my previous choice. Don't really know how you guys deal with paper choice but this is the hardest for me because I don't want my page to be boring...I want it to have a variety of paper but I almost never achieve what I want.

I do the same thing. I'll get a page almost done and there will be something about it I don't like and I'll delete it.

I take forever to find just the right photo for CT layouts and just about as long to find the perfect paper and elements when I'm scrapping for myself.
