Default another Fireproof thread.

everytime i see that trailer, i cry. and now, with all that has gone on this week with DH, I want us to see it. problem is getting him to watch it, lol. he's not big on those mushy movies. but i wonder if it would give us insight. i've already started to do more little things for him, trying to get us back on track. things are still sort of tense between us, but he has been showing more affection too. just today i was cleaning out my microwave and he walked into the kitchen, grabbed my hand and pulled me to him. we just stood there for a few minutes. i see he's trying to make an effort. but like i said, there is this wierd tension in the air, but i guess its expected after what almost happened this week. theres a part of me that keeps expecting him to change his mind again. but i'm honestly doing my best to improve some things i've been slacking on, not just for him to please him but because i know in my heart i've not been the greatest mom or wife. i hope we can work this out. despite everything i do love him. some people think i'm crazy for sticking it out. but they aren't me. they can't really walk in my shoes.

so somehow, i want to get this movie in my dvd player, lol. we still talk about going to church, and i know some churches have implemented this movie into their services.

for those who have watched, has it made an impact?

My Dh & I aren't at any kind of cross roads or bad patch with our marriage but I think marriage is always a work in progress so everyone can benefit from the ideas in the movie. It has made an impact on my DH as the past week he has been leaving me notes and doing things that before the movie he wasn't doing. So it certainly couldn't hurt. But if you think DH would be against the movie then why not you watch it or better yet buy The Love Dare book from the movie and just implement the ideas yourself and see what happens!

What Lizzy said. Seriously, Andrew and I have a pretty good marriage but this movie...wow. You NEED to see it.

Oh, I don't really see it as MUSHY per se, but Chad might see it as a bit "preachy", yk? Andrew was hesitant to watch it, but he did and truly loved it.

Corey, if you want it, I'll gladly send you my copy of The Love Dare too. It is so worth the time and effort!!!

I would go get it right now!! It is such a good movie!! Actually to be honest to me it wasn't really a mushy movie!! I think they tried really hard to appeal to men and women both!! Even if you end up watching it yourself it will help you!!

Also I recommend for you the love dare book!!

i was just gonna suggest that book. It is awesome. WE have it and although we have a very strong relashionship I still try to do the stuff for my husband..dh is not a reader so he didn't get much from it..but it just gives little daily task and devotionals. It is neat!

Yes, you totally need to see the movie...alone or with DH. It's not mushy, IMO, and if you could get him to watch it, it may help him see things a little differently. PLEASE do this for yourself...it certainly can't make anything any worse.

I've put this movie at the top of our Netflix queue (apparently there's a very long wait). We're not in a crisis or anything, but I've found myself getting irritated easily lately and I know that things can always get better! Gonna have to check out this book as well...

I literally just watched this movie. I LOVED it. I thought the acting was a little shaky in the beginning but the storyline was just so good!

The acting is pretty shaky all the way thru..it's low budget and most of the actors were volunteer..but the message is soo great that the bad acting I think can be overlooked It's fabulous and I hope really if you and Chad stay together that this movie has an impact on your relationship. Marriages are HARD work and way too easy to give up on when things get rough. Even the best marriage can learn a lesson from this movie.

Joel is totally anti-Christian made anything b/c of its cheese-factor. Our church showed this movie, so we went. Joel walked away from it and actually said it was GOOD. Not at all what he expected. And I think it made a difference. We aren't really going through anything major right now, but it's just little things that I've noticed he's been doing.

You can definitely get the book and work through it-- it's what Kirk Cameron works through in the movie. Maybe people have already said that, I haven't read through the other replies. I highly recommend it, though.

I'm slow... what's Fireproof? Is it church or faith-based on marriage? Sorry I'm totally clueless and missed the other thread you mentioned.
