I need to see my progress, so I'm looking for an app or some kind of system where I can input "I did the thing" and it will show me how awesome I am.
I've been using the Streaks app, but it doesn't show progress. It prompts me to do the things, but it doesn't say, "Look how amazing you are for doing them!" I'm talking about things like calling my parents each week, walking after dinner, and reading the nonfiction book that has been sitting beside my bed for the last year. Things I WANT to do but need a little motivation to accomplish. Hopefully, I'm not the only one out there whose intrinsic motivation needs a little help!

I don't use an app but I am a sucker for little checkbox trackers in my planner. I've done weekly and monthly tracking, depending on what I'm tracking. I also print full-page printables for things like book tracking or progress in monthly challenges.
Seeing my water consumption habits in those cute little stickers is the only way I built a good habit of staying hydrated. Both the seeing and the act of writing seems to hold me accountable.

Found these ones from a google search.
https://zapier.com/blog/best-todo-list-apps/ A Reddit review said: "TickTick has a lovely "Ding!" when you complete a task. It also has a scoring system where you can earn badges for completing tasks or doing other things. Beyond that it's the best task manager I've ever used." Someone else recommended Habitica: "Habitica is a free habit-building and productivity app that treats your real life like a game. With in-game rewards and punishments to motivate you and a strong social network to inspire you, Habitica can help you achieve your goals to become healthy, hard-working, and happy." https://habitica.com/static/home I don't have any personal experience with any of them. That would be way too organised. I like to make to-do lists, lose them or forget about them, start over with a new list, forget about that, and the cycle continues... ![]()

I'm a list maker ... write it down ... tape it somewhere (dinette table if it's a weekend list) ... and draw a line through each task as it's done.
My current "office" list looks like this ... *Alaska Air *submit request for hand-rail estimate *call Cox re VM *research toilet/buy toilet/schedule plumber *estimate re: chimney cap; antenna removal; doors; vinyl siding *complete DD's disability benefit re-qualification forms Had to use italics b/c there's no strike-through option. |

I use a combination of handwritten lists and OneNote. I create a new OneNote page every quarter and use the "to do" checkbox. I get a lot of joy out of marking things complete!! To show progress, I will indent sub-tasks that I can check off as I go. For example, If I'm planning a birthday party, I would have the overall task and then a slew of things I check off under it. For recurring tasks where I need a reminder, I use Apple's Reminder app and set entry to recurring (example: replace furnace filter every 6 months).
I hope you find something that works for you!
