Default QOTD: Do/have you document(ed) your family history/heritage?

One of the things I want to do during my scrapbooking days is to of course document the things that happens in our lives, but I also want to document what came before us. Family members we've known, loved and lost are as much a part of our lives as our current and future events and I want to make their memories and pictures part of my books too.

How about you? Do you scrap about past family history?

I've documented my Nana. I collected her photos and journals, and created an album that covered from her birth to her early years as a mother. I really should get around to finishing the album. She passed away at 100 years old, so that's still another 60 odd years to include...

I've sent lots of family history questions to my parents about their own childhood and life, and my Dad has returned his answers, but I haven't scrapped any of it yet. That's in my ever growing 'to-do' pile. My mum hasn't answered the questions yet. Really should get on to her to do that as she's the only one in her family I know that could answer them.

I did her album years ago, when I first started scrapbooking, so my shadows etc are not the best, but boy did she have some interesting stories about her childhood!

Jacinda that's a big project! I wish you all the luck in completing your book(s).
I myself have an ongoing project like this. My granmother on my mother's side passed away a few years back and I've started collecting all the info I can on her and her life from my grandfather and mother. I also got every family memeber a book to fill out their stories. One of those "Granmother/grandfather tell your story" books, so far my mother, grandfather and grandmother has started theirs.

I haven't really scrapped about it......... yet. I have been digging into my family tree, and building that and getting all the info I can find with the hopes of EVENTUALLY scrapping about my family of the past. I even know how I want to go about scrapping those pages, just another project that's sitting in que.

I made a scrapbook about my Grandfather who is 103. He has an amazing story and it just had to be documented. There are definitely more stories to tell!

I'm working on creating a family history book of my maternal grandfather's and grandmother's families. My grandparents are in their 90s and I would like to get it done sooner rather than later. I have been collecting old photos and stories. My grandparents have told me stories and given me info but it has been hard to get info from others. I am in the process of scanning all of the photos and determining how to organize the book. Sometimes it feels a little overwhelming but I really want to have this.

I would love too - my parents know about the family and my dad has asked me to help him gather photos from his side and put them into an album with embellishments. Sadly, I can barely keep up with our memories, than dedicate time to scrapping the past...
