My son does that too so every time we go away for the weekend or on vacation and he has to sleep with us, we don't get ANY sleep.

It must be genetic...I am awful if I'm not wearing my occlusal guard.

Aiden's been walking around doing it on purpose! Drives us crazy. He fixates on one sound he can make or one thing he's figured out how to do and does it constantly. This new'thing' is grinding I feel for ya, la.

my hubby also grinds his teeth not every night, but it can get pretty loud and wake me up. oh, and he alternates between grinding and snoring LOL

now that i'm sleeping with the kids (baby breastfeeding), i'm not bothered by his grinding. for now.

When I was younger I actually did wear one of the plastic football type mouth guards. We found the smallest one they made and then heated it so it molded to my mouth like it says to do and I slept in that.

Poor momma and poor kid! His mouth must hurt! I know mine does in the morning if I grind my teeth at night.

I don't have grinders but I have a sucker. My 6 year old makes a sound like he is sucking a thumb but he has never sucked his thumb. I can't be in the same room when he does that.

Ugh...our middle DD was the WORST teeth-grinder in the world! It's no friggin' wonder she complained about headaches (and I dreamt of lock-jaw!). Our other kids were teeth-grinders too, to a certain extent, but nowhere near like Livia. We considered a mouth-guard, but the dentist said that with her mouth constantly going (uh I mean growing LOL) that she would need a new guard every month or two (costly).

She'll be 6yrs. next month and she's gotten better.

Maybe some grow out of it??

Ya, you really need to find a way to help him quit or get a mouth guard. He's going to be hurting in the long run.
I did so much grinding when I was a kid that my incisors are flat and I have TMJ really bad where my jaw locks open in the middle of the night and it causes me migraines.
It sucks and I wish I'd had a guard when I was younger.

well he still only has baby teeth.. everything I read said it was harmless in baby teeth mode- and that most stop when they have adult teeth coming in- but if they don't that's when the damage happens. so I dunno.. He doesn't complain about pain or anything- and I'm 99% sure it's just emotional/stress/crap with him and not a mouth weirdness issue (lol). he had a dentist appt a month.. or.. two ago? I have no sense of time.. anyway they said his teeth looked fine then *shrugs* I just CAN NOT take the sound anymore LOL.

I actually grind my teeth at night and my hubby wakes me up yelling at me to stop!!! The sound makes him crazy (which I understand) but I have no idea that I'm doing it!! The only way I know that I was doing it is in the morning when my jaw hurts badly!! Thank god it's not an every night thing

ROFLMBO!
I wonder if I do this?? I know I'm rough on my teeth but I'm not sure if I grind them in my sleep or not. I caught Aubrey grinding her teeth once or twice but it's not all the time. It is quite hard to sit there and listen too. Eeeeek!

Mason does it too, even when he's awake...it makes me crazy and I don't know how to stop the habit. He has actually ground down his teeth so they're TINY...I need to get him a guard I think.
