Default We're getting the itch to be nomadic... NC peeps?

My husband and I have had the itch for quite sometime. We built our house in sept.2010, but still feeling the itch to move, so we've been thinking about a BIG move. We were looking hard at Colorado, but being a Texas girl, I'm not sure I could handle the winters. So we've been talking and Brian spent a few years as a child in North Carolina and loved it. We love the mountains and the idea of a small state that has beach and mountains is great. Thinking 230k-300k as far as range for homes.
Brian works in the computer industry and I'm a sp.ed. preschool teacher, 2 kids aged 8 and 6- so I'd love to hear about family friendly areas in NC. Any advice as we begin our research is appreciated!

I'm no expert but I didn't want to look with out commenting!! I did live for about 2 years on the east coast of NC...in Elizabeth City. It was only about 45 minutes from Nags Head/Kitty Hawk area but not any where near the mountains! It was beautiful and I'd give anything to be able to move back there!!

I think some time ago Robin actually posted about maybe looking into a move to NC and there was a big long thread...maybe you could look it up while you are waiting for someone more knowledgeable to answers your thread!!!
