Default If you're the font person who forgets to copy her font file over...

when switching from Windows XP to Windows 7...and now has no fonts of her own?

Raise your hand.

^^ That would be me

I completely forgot when Russ was asking about all the files that I needed copied over...and now they're all gone LOL. That's how I wanted to spend my work time.

That is why I keep a copy of the fonts I have installed in my scrapping folder. I always forget when DH is switching computers, upgrading, or just plain messing with my computer. I guess you live and you learn and then you work! Sorry Darcy!

Well, I did finally find my copy of the font folder that I had hidden, but I hadn't updated it in long enough that it doesn't contain much of what I need. He says we can migrate it from the old hard drive ... so that's good. But I need it NOW! not tonight LOLOLOL

I did that when we got our new computer... it's definitely something you only do once and then never forget to do again... hope it goes quickly Darcy.

Yeah... uhm, I've done this... It is frustrating, especially when you open an old file only to find out you don't have that font loaded...

I'm sorry, but I totally giggled that you, the FONT designer, forgot to move her fonts.

I'm glad you can at least get them back tonight though

This is another reason I love my Mac. When I get a new computer and I'm setting it up, it asks if I'm transferring from an old one, I hook them up, and EVERYTHING transfers. Love it! And updating the OS is just as seamless.

Hope you get everything back Darcy!!

Windows does that, too, Lydia..we just couldn't do it with some things that we had configured...and some deadlines I was running on, so Russ did a lot of the work ahead of time. We'll be able to hook up the old drive tonight and copy over some of the things I missed. Our situation just made it weird.

That's happened to me more times than I care to admit. Although, it was always DH's fault... he never thinks to tell me when he's re-installing Windows or anything that involves back-ups. When he switched to Windows 7 3 weeks ago, he told me not to worry... he backed up EVERYTHING. Until I went into PSE and tried scrapping. I realized quite quickly that I no longer have brushes, styles or actions installed!!! AGHHHHHH!

So sorry, Darcy. I noticed on my computer that font files are not automatically backed up by Carbonite either. You have to set your preferences for font files to be backed up.

OMG that's HORRIBLE!!!! I made SURE my DH is backing up my font folders. Do you have a backup somewhere you could recover?
