Default Christmas Movies

We are trying to expand our collection of movies. We have all 3 Santa Clauses, the Grinch (animated), Phineas and Ferb, Elf & National Lampoons (not for kids, obv.). We have DVR-ed Rudolph & Santa Clause is Coming to Town. We are getting Home Alone, but I know I am missing some GREAT Christmas Movies.

What is in your stash?

And a bunch of the TV classics that we've taped over the years: Grinch, Charlie Brown, Rudolph, Frosty, Shrek, Mickey's Christmas, etc.

I had to go look through our DVD collection cause I couldn't remember exactly which movies we had!

We have:
A Christmas Story
Elf
Four Christmases
Polar Express
The Original Christmas Classics set (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is Comin' To Town plus 4 others)
Merry Madagascar
The Penguins Whacked Out Holiday
Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights (we never watch this one though, not sure why we still have it lol)

We also love the three Santa Clause movies and Christmas Vacation so we need to buy those! The kids also love Santa Buddies, The Search for Santa Paws, Home Alone, Home Alone 2 and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

White Christmas is my all time favorite if for no other reason than this scene alone

I have been wanting to watch Nightmare before Christmas....do the kids love it? Is it at all scary for littler ones (6-8 years)?

oh! thanks. DH picked up Planes, Trains & Automobiles as well for us.

Cindy - it's odd, but not too scary. My girls watched it a while back - did not "get" it, but it is one I think we may need to get.

I think the danger here is not so much getting scared (it's more cute than scary), but being too post-modern for kids. Like they could miss most of the fun because some jokes can't be appreciated until you've had some experience. Still I think it's fun enough for kids, too. I saw it in theatre several times and the adults had deffo more fun then kids, but that's basically true about most really good ones (like Finding Nemo, even though it's a completely different kind of film). Other than that I'd say it's pretty safe. My fave, BTW. :-)
