loved these books - read them this month for my "real life" book club...definitely not something I would have normally picked up to read, but I ended up loving them...

so, Team Gale or Team Peeta?

In this book I was all for team Gale. They have history together, they worked together to try and survive before the games, etc.

I just started reading this today. Definitely not my usual, but it's interesting so far. Someone lent it to me on my Kindle, so I'm trying to read it as fast as I can before my 14 days are up.

I was Team Gale at first and switched to Team Peeta. I loved book 1 and 2 but haven't read the third yet.

I read these books back in April(ish) on the recommendation of my sister and I think I read the whole series in like 3 days. But it's a hard one to describe to someone else to read because it sounds rather gruesome as a concept.

Well, I finished it in one day. Not sure what to think. It definitely kept my attention, but it really is rather gruesome and not really my style. I do want to read the next in the series, mainly to see what happens with Katniss, Peeta and Gale, but the whole concept of the Hunger Games is really kind of sickening to me.

Kara, yes, it is sickening isn't it....kind of the Most Dangerous game on Steroids.
I was on team Gale, but then like many of you, switched to Peeta...
I read the series this summer and enjoyed it, but I don't think I'll read it again or allow Jackson to read it until he's a little older.

I just finished book three and boy was I disappointed. TOTALLY.

Books one and two were page turners, I needed to read them and was consumed by them. Book three....BORING and dumb. UGH.

I'm thrilled with who she ended up with but was so disappointed otherwise.

I loved the first book so much. Was disappointed with the second one and totally bummed by the third. It was definitely worth it to read the trilogy, but nothing compared to the first book, IMO.

I agree. I read the first 2 quickly but it took me forever to get through the third.

I'm on the 3rd book..and I really am enjoying them...I needed some quick reads after finishing up the first 5 in the Game of Thrones series.

Here's the thing though..I'm disappointed a lot of the times with Katniss. She's kind of whiney and self-centered a lot. I mean I guess I can see how that makes her character but I went into the first book thinking she was going to be this big rebel and do something drastic in the games to start this big uprising and I guess she sort of did with the berries thing..but that wasn't really her rebelling so much as her trying to save them both. She just seemed to have one goal..survive..or save Peeta..she never seemed to commit fully to defying the Capitol kwim?

I thought Gale's character was too under-written in the first book for me to understand why she'd choose him over Peeta..I mean I get it b/c they had a history, but WE never really saw that..just mentions of it. I thought Peeta was given much more to develop his character and make him loveable for the reader as well as Katniss..so I would get frustrated with her when she didn't feel the way she should about him either lol.

But still, I enjoyed them..very good reads and looking forward to finding out how it all ends in the 3rd book.
