Default Digiscrapping fail

I've always scrapped and mailed all of my kids' birthday invitations. But I had a hard time getting DS to commit to a final guest list this year, and we finally ran out of time for mailing. I hit send on the Evite a few minutes ago. It makes me feel a bit like a slacker scrapper, but they had a bowling invite in DS's favorite color, and it was easy and fast. I even ordered him a single printed copy to hang on the fridge (like we usually do with invitations).

Have any fails or successes you want to share?

I didn't do Christmas cards this last year . . . for the first time in about 20 years. It was a big fail for me. Of course, 20 years ago I wasn't creating my own cards, but I have been doing that for the last eight years or so, and it was a big deal to me that it didn't happen in 2013. I usually LOVE creating our card and sending it out, but I just couldn't get up the energy to accomplish it this year. Lame.

Well, my fail is on a larger scale. I originally started digiscrapping as a project for my MIL when I found out I was pregnant with my oldest. And well, I got hooked immediately and the pages for her started dwindling off until they just didn't happen anymore (I'm sure that was well before his first birthday!). OOPS!

But...my albums look great and full (albeit not in any kind of chronological order).

I didn't do calendars this past year and I upload a nice picture to Mixbook for our Christmas card. I looked wonderful.

Took me a few years to realize that I didn't have to knock myself out every year for my son's birthday or Christmas. He had just as much fun and I was a whole lot happier. Now I scrap what I want to...not because everyone expects something from me.

I sent a regular Christmas card last year, too. Too much going on personally (& dealing with morning sickness) to work up the strength to deal with it.

I'm not sure anyone cared abt receiving a store card except for me.

I didn't get my calendar done last year and for the past two maybe three years, I have made Christmas cards but mailed them out to no one.

The important thing is that you're throwing a party for him. Invites seem to be more for parents than they are kids, lol. My oldest son is having a birthday in a couple weeks and I designed a simple invite and just printed it on card stock (only 4 invites). My boys never care what their invites look like.

But, I didn't send out any cards at all.

And, I def don't do cards because other people expect me to. It's always been something I've loved to do. I just didn't have much Christmas cheer this past season, so I skipped it altogether.

i was the same this Christmas - just wasn't into the idea of making and mailing out cards for some reason. it didn't feel like a fail though...just how i was feeling, that's all.

I was looking at Etsy for inspiration for my daughter's graduation announcements. I found one I loved and was something I could recreate and personalize... but I just spent the $15 to have the designer make it for me. Sometimes it's not worth the time I'd spend (especially right now when I'm sick and we're coming off Spring Break) when I consider time vs. amount of money spent.

When my son graduated two years ago, I spent hours trying to work out an announcement and ended up finding a premade version with the printer I used and liking it better than anything I could make. That might have influenced my decision to just buy something for my daughter.

This is so true. Sometimes we (or maybe just me ) overthink of what should be scrapped.

I guess I'm very lucky to have a family who never expects me to even scrap anything. I do this because I want to tell a story for the future generation in my family, and because I love doing it

As for my fail, I've wanted to print my layouts since 2008 and bought a few photobook printing coupons, but that never happened.. the coupons expired (and not just one or two!) and I have no hard copy of my layouts in my hand. I've been overthinking of printing them in chronological order, and that was too hard so I gave up.. I don't even scrap chronologically!

I'm good about printing my layouts but not so much at getting them into albums. I have at least 4 or 5 sets of prints in piles waiting to go in the albums. I'm sure it'd take an evening at most but somehow it never gets done.

hmmm... as I was reading your responses... I have a lot of "fails"... haha...

I didn't send out Christmas Cards, this year either...
Still haven't done thank you notes from J's birthday...
I started an album for my father in law like 6 years ago, it's still not done
Outside of pages I print to put on the wall for my son's birthday party, I haven't printed much of anything for the last 2 years...
And those that I have printed, are still sitting in a box waiting to be put in an album...
I've redone week one and two of PL 2012 and STILL not happy with them... and I can't work on the rest of the year until I decided what I want...
PL 2013 has stalled in April...
PL 2014 - only scrapped one week so far...
Dec Daily for 2012 and 2013 are only 1/2 completed...

yeah... you can say I'm a bit behind...

I took pictures, but never started week in the life 2013... Think I've decided that isn't important to me. lol.

I am pretty good about getting my projects finished, but I still haven't sent my 2013 photobook off to print. I finished it last month, but haven't taken the time for a final check of everything. At this point, I'm waiting on big coupons in April for Mother's Day presents maybe? lol.

I have about 8 books that I should print, but keep postponing it because I hate pre-press work...

I've been bad about holiday cards, too. Our extended family isn't big on them, so we only get a handful from friends each year. I used to send them anyway, but I skipped this year. I haven't decided yet if I'm done for good or not. That part was fine-no guilt or regret. But I meant to send a couple to some relatives of DH's who I know really appreciate getting them (since they don't see us or the kids in person), and I didn't even manage that. That one I feel bad about!

I generally have the attitude that scrapping is my hobby and form of relaxation; there's no reason it should stress me out or make me feel guilt. But that only works if I resist the temptation to take on too many projects. I do PL (but no back years) and a photobook for any big trips we take, and other than that I scrap what I feel like.

Oh, wait-I'm lying, LOL. I also do a calendar for the extended family. I love the result but hate the work. It was easier when it was just my kids, but as the family grows it's getting harder to do. No fails on that yet, but it's coming one of these years.
