Default very basic question about cutting photo to size...

hi everyone! Happy weekend!!

I have a VERY basic question that I can't believe I don't know the answer to!

My DD has her holiday party at school next Friday and they're making little foam gingerbread ornaments with a circular photo cutout as the face. I took pics of all the kids individually at recess the other day, and now I just need to crop them into 1.5" circles, paste them all onto a 8x10 and have it printed! Then, at the party, each kid will assemble their own gingerbread person and put their photo into the frame as the head

But I can't for the life of me figure out how to crop a circle at a specific size! Can anyone help?

thank you thank you!

Hi Beckie, I'd create a 1.5 inch circle using the circle tool (actually think it's called the ellipse tool) and then use that as a clipping mask for the photos.

Is that what you are asking?

I would create circle size I need (make a large circle on a page and then go to image size and make it the size you need) and then use that circle as a clipping mask for the photos. As you go, just move them over to blank 8x10 page size.

Is that what you needed? Hope that helps a bit!

thank you guys very much! ok...

so if I set the style to "fixed size" and use the circular marquis tool to create a circle at 1/5", it will be the right size?

Then I'll just re-size each photo to fit my clipping mask.

Just want to make sure I know which to use - fixed size or fixed ratio...

thank you sooooo much!!

Good luck with your project!
I use the ellipse tool, select fixed size and type in the size under width and height. (I make sure to type in how I want the dimension to be - if I need a 1.5" circle I type 1.5 and then in for inches for both). Then I use the shape as a clipping mask for the photos.

Happy Holidays!
