Default Handwriting

hmm I'm gonna be full of all sorts of strange posts tonight.. I have a feeling

Anyways how do you change your handwriting? I RARELY write anymore - or print anything out but I really want to be able to write and have people able to read what the note says

Are there any tricks to learning a new way to write?

I think practice....think back to when you were a kid. When you were learning to write the teachers made you write the letters over and over. (are you talking print or cursive?) I also find if I am writing alot its good to take a break because my writing starts out really neat then after writing it gets messy

i am with you! i don't write much and when i do sometimes its like i forgot how, lol. you should see my signature; you cant even read it. i can write nice, but whenever i have to sign my name somewhere its like i get nervous and it ends up just being scribbly.

plus i hate my name. its boring. i wish it were spelled different. Cori, Kori, Koree anything besides the way mine is spelled. Thanks Mom, lol.

oh really?? see I love names that end with a y (my daughter's name is lily) I think y is a MUCH prettier way to end a name rather than i or e

Two thumbs up for this post. I've forgotten how to write by hand already lol

One thing I've found, as a leftie, my so-called handwriting practice is always hampered by those pesky spiral binding of notebooks. I learned different ways to write just to avoid the spiral binding, but because there were too many ways to write and I'm in front of a computer all day anyway, I dunno how to write by hand anymore and just type.

I agree y is a very pretty letter..

lol this is why I want to re-add my maiden name to my name (hypen it instead of straight change it).. cause I have a y and a z in my maiden name.. they're perty!

And the smudging of the ink onto your pinky! I hate that when I'm signing a card it gets smeared and then looks gross.

I think all you need to do is slow down and take your time in your own handwriting and it'll be neater. No need to change the way it looks

Uh... my handwriting changes every 5 years, I swear... I hate my signature, too... I can't seem to get the second "c" out in Rebecca... When I was working I actually went by Reba (most still call me this) so i didn't have to write the "c" LOL! I think it takes practice... remember when you had a crush on a boy and you would write and rewrite your future last name...

I would love to change my handwriting! I actually remember seeing a book a while back, I think from Creating Keepsakes about how to love your handwriting... I'll see if I can find it!

I kinda like your handwriting too.

There are aspects of my handwriting that I love and aspects that I loathe. But it's MY handwriting, and it's a part of me, so I can't imagine changing it. Of course if my handwriting were so distinctive that it could identify me if I went into Witness Protection or something...then I might change it.

I dislike my handwritting, it looks a mess to me, even the pretty version that Darcy did for me never looks right on my LOs. I only use it if I am not doing much journaling. I couldn't believe it when someone actually used it on their LOs. lol I write very fast and so infrequently that it just keeps getting worse and worse as time goes on.

I love my handwriting but hate writing my name. I think it's cuz I don't like that it starts with a J.

I have tried to change my handwriting for years...specifically to match DH's signature but, it just isn't working.

There's actually another book as well called the Scrapbooker's Handwriting Workshop. I've seen it and it has lots of practice room to try out 20 different fonts. I hate my handwriting, so I think I'm going to try doing it. Then get Darcy to make a font for me once I love my handwriting.

I like my handwriting, and I'm a lefty.
I don't have issues with smudging ink anymore though, I haven't in years. Only if the pen spits out a gloop of ink or something.

My handwriting definitely evolved over the years. I totally changed my signature when I was 21--just completely different look...made even better when I could finally drop my retarded maiden name for my married name. I'd marry Michael all over again for the simple fact that his name is easy to pronounce and closer to the beginning of the alphabet (maiden name was Vassallo...which was my evil stepfather's name and why it doesn't match my auburn hair and freckles).

I like my handwriting. I get lots of warm fuzzies over it. So, yeah. I always love jotting things down, writing out lists, etc.

Some things that I switched up over the years was the slant, the weight, and the roundness of the letters. For example, when I was in middle school, my letters were rounder, thicker/heavier, and fairly straight up and down. I've lightened up the pressure and made everything a bit thinner, too. I also went from very uniform characters to mixing up print and script, tall and short, thin and fat, etc.

Mine changes a lot too... but if I take my time it looks nice and neat. In fact I just got my very own Darcy font and I love it!! It is so cool seeing my handwriting on my computer lol! Oh and I had a hard time with my name as a kid but I am happy I have it now

I used to take notes back to front in my spiral notebooks so the spiral would be on the right side of the page. I found it a lot easier for me but it completely confused anyone who tried to borrow my notes.

As far as improving your handwriting, I agree with what other have said: slow down and practice. I would also look at others who's handwriting I do like and emulate the things I like and just practice adding them in to my own writing.

i'm one of the few it seems that likes their handwriting. my signature hasn't changed in probably 10 years. it's been the same since i started high school at least.

i agree, though. practice. get out the practice pads they sell at stores and go back to the cursive you learned in school. mom made my brother do this when she found out he didn't know how to write in cursive. he signed his license in print. she was horrified.

i use to like my handwriting, until I became a teacher. I have to write on boards, grade essays, work on lesson plans and take notes........ I'm happy to type on a computer now. I say just type and grab someone's pretty handwriting font call it your own and say i just like to type better hehehe

I really like how my handwriting has evolved....I'm a lefty too and always remember the dreaded, annoying smudging, lol!! I find that if I actually take my time, I love my writing...if I'm in a hurry it looks a little more poo-ish

I use to have gorgeous handwriting but then I had to have hand surgery and that totally messed me up Now I actually have to have another hand surgery and so now my hand writing is really a struggle although some days are better than others. And it really helps to slow down if I'm trying to write a card or something. My grocery lists and to-do lists aren't very pretty though. LOL
