we have some flooding here in RI.. two of our rivers are flooding (blackstone & pawtuxet) - one that wraps through my city & through the city ce goes to school in (and several other cities) and another one in the bottom half of our state. They're both supposed to peak sometime late tonight- hopefully it's not too bad... but the river in the lower half is already pretty bad--They think both rivers will crest btwn 18-20ft (flood stage is 9ft)..

We are fine, we live on a hill and so forth- I'm not worried.. but a lot of people have been evacuated from their homes just south of me (about 20-30 minutes) so the rain really needs to go. We're just lucky that we as a state, are small.. and thusly our rivers aren't too wide. This isn't a huge roaring river you know.. but water is dangerous reguardless.
Anyway.. please keep all the people affected in your hearts.. I may just keep ce home from school tomorrow since the river cuts btwn home & school. They've already closed a neighboring city's school for tomorrow (and all the ones that are affected by the lower half river)..

I also have court in the AM- so somehow have to manage to get down there. They've closed chunks of the highway and tons of roads-- so that's another stresser thrown into the mix.

I hope everything goes the right way in court and you get there safely and all that.

It's crazy, too, that you're complaining about rain, because we're in the middle of a drought. We had our first rainfall in almost three months and we were just giddy about it.

just a quick update- my river only got to 14.3 ft .. the other river however, is over 20ft.. please keep those people in your hearts.

Court is cancelled for today.. I don't know what that means. I have to call my attorney...

I've been anxiously watching the news on this. My mom's financial planner called my mom, saying she wouldn't be able to talk to her at their meeting time - her house was getting flooded. She's along the Connecticut River, and I know the Yantic River is flooding over as well. I lived in Connecticut for most of my life and the only times I remember being concerned about flooding was during a hurricane. I'm hoping I can send the sunshine and warmth we have right now to dry you guys out there in New England...
