Default Help me calm down.... PLEASE!

Hi ladies! I need some reassurance here because I am starting to get crazy nervous. I need a hug or something.

Last week I went for all my pregnancy blood work. Yesterday I was out and the doctor's office called and told my DH that they wanted to schedule a new appointment to discuss some of the results. I was just about to call them today, when they called back and said that the doctor needed to speak to me, and they had me booked for tomorrow at 3:15 pm. I asked if everything was okay, and there was a slight pause, and the nurse just said that Dr. Malan wanted to talk to me about the results.

So of course, I have NO details and I'm trying not freak out or think of worst case scenario, but it's so hard!! If there was nothing wrong, I wouldn't have to go see the doctor again about my results, you know?? I just hope the baby is okay and maybe I'm lacking in some mineral or something... but I'm scared!

hugs!! It could be anything or nothing. I had that same type of worry when I was pregnant with Logan and it turned out the doctor just wanted to talk about my high glucose level. I know it's stressful to wait. Could the doctor fit you in today? I'll be thinking of you sweetie!

(((hugs)))

I really don't like it when the doctors do that. You know that the receptionists and nurses can't tell you anything, but still. I'd probably be going a bit nuts right now myself. It really doesn't do any good to get worked up, though, and it's better for the baby for you to be calm, so take a few deep breaths and relax!!

Prayers for you and baby.

*hugs* I hate that! Let's hope it's not about your blood pressure because those types of appointments always make mine spike! The good news is, medicine today is amazing, so chances are that even if there is a problem, they will be able to take care of you and baby. It's still scary in the meantime though. *hugs*

Awww sweet pea. I agree with Kate. I really hate that doctor's offices do that. I understand when looking at the big picture when you aren't in the middle of it but, it is still hard to be the one waiting for the answers and they can't tell you anything.

I agree with Julie though....it could very easily be a glucose issue or something like that. Try to keep busy on something babe. I am thinking of you and sending you big hugs.

(((HUGS))) 'not to know' is like a nightmare, but maybe that pause is just the nursing thinking about if she could have you at least clue or not by the phone - not that its necessarily about a bad thing. I'm sending positive thoughts and prayers right on your and your baby way.

How mean of them! Can you call them back and ask for the Dr to call you? They sometimes make patient calls after they are done with appointments. Having a stressed out momma is not good!

I hope it is nothing. (((Hugs))). I agree that if it were something serious, they would have changed the schedule around to see you today. To put you off until late afternoon tomorrow is torture and they should know that!

I agree with the others that if it were really bad they'd get you in. What screening was done?

A lot of those tests yield false positives. They're screenings so they indicate the need for further testing, they do not indicate that something is definitely wrong.

HUGS to you

{{Hugs}} Maybe you can call the nurse and ask for the reason to meet? I know here they are all up in arms about privacy laws, but it's not nice to leave people hanging... I agree with the others... if it was really bad, they would be getting you in this afternoon yet... thinking of you, and adding you to my prayers.

When DH came home for lunch he called the doctor for me to see if they could fit us in today, but they said they were booked solid.

The worst part of living in a small town (2000) with only 1 doctor and 90% elderly ones is that they are always slammed and nobody is willing to reschedule because their "cough" is obviously much more serious than abnormal bloodwork in a pregnant woman (rant). So frustrating.

I'm *trying* to be calm and not freak out, but it's SO hard. I just can't help myself, and just the thoughts that something *might* be wrong sends me into tears. I need to distract myself with something...

Anyone know of any good, distracting websites??

HUGS Jae...keep positive and I agree with the other gals....if we were really somethign bad I would assume they would have MADE room for you...working in a lab, it could be nmerous things, so tr not to wrorry too much...it could be something that you just have to get redrawn or some result that was out of whack and they want you to repeat it so stay positive...keeping you nad baby in my thoughts~

oh sweetie, that would make me CRAZY. All I can think is that if it were something critical/urgent, they would have had you in today - even if it meant going to the hospital. Thinking of you - and sending positive thoughts that it IS just some silly old mineral thing...

If it was just your blood work I wouldn't be too worried, if anything its mostlikely the Glucose level or maybe you are RH - and have to get a shot I wouldn't stress it too much. I had them freak out once because they thought I hadn't had my german measles shot.

Big hugs Jae. Hopefully it's nothing major - as the other girls have said, surely they'd fit you in today if it was really urgent. Hope you can keep busy/distracted. Thinking of you. x

really Jae don't stress over it. My doctor did that same thing with my middle son because they did a test without really explaining what it was for and even though I cannot remember exactly what it was now it was testing for some sort of protien and it tested positive but it was a false positive and I would find out later that they have ALOT of false positives and alot of mother rejected having those tests done because of that. I think because I was so very young they did not feel the need to explain alot of things to me and just figured I would just go along with everything. Im sure you and your baby are fine but (((HUGE HUGS))) anyhow.

I'm so sorry that they did that to you. I can imagine how crazed you must be. When I was pregnant with DS, they saw something on his kidney during the 22 week ultrasound. I forget what they said it might be (something bad that would have required treatment by a pediatric nephrologist after birth), but they also said that it could be just an enlargement that isn't anything to worry about and would "normalize" by 36 weeks, so they scheduled another ultrasound for then. I had to wait 14 weeks to find out what was going on! Thankfully all was normal at 36 weeks. I will keep you in my thoughts and hope that tomorrow moves quickly for you. Please keep us informed. Hugs to you.

Hugs. My doctor won't discuss any results over the phone. I had to make office visits to get the results of my 1 hour & 3 hour sugar test & I got to pay the lovely co-pay each time.

I hope that everything is okay.

Hugs!!! I sure hope that they see you soon. My mother always told whenever I worried about something that I don't know the answer to, to not worry about it because I end up being all worked up twice. However, this is totally something that I would be nervous myself about regardless of what my mother says. May I suggest maybe something that helps me? I don't know how you feel about this or if you have already done it, but whenever I need to calm down about something or want peace or comfort, I say a little prayer and ask for help and comfort. I hope and pray that everything is ok with you and baby. Big hugs to your family and lots of love!

Another 3 hours until I go.... waiting is so annoying, lol!

I'm much calmer today for some reason. Yesterday I was in tears all day. I finally realized that it's probably something routine or they would have fit me in yesterday or sent me for an ultrasound (like so many mentioned). I'm pretty much convinced that it's just a mineral deficiency or maybe glucose levels.

I will let you all know when I get back from my appointment! Thank you all for your hugs & well wishes!!

Okay - I'm back! I got to the doctor and everything is fine! Just one of the tests came back indeterminate and they wanted to check to see if I wanted it redrawn and retested. SO retarded. It was for something that I definitely DON'T have, so it's kind of pointless to get retested.

Nothing like making it seem like a major thing (dumb receptionist), when it was nothing. Now I can relax.
