How much for Corn on the Cob!?!
How much is corn on the cob in your area!?!?! I just picked up some at one of our local farms and I paid $6 bucks for a Baker's Dozen (13 ears). I about crapped my pants!!!
Both our Wal Mart and Giant Eagle are selling it for .20 cents an ear this week!! I'm kinda wishing I would have waited to get it at GE!!!

I've seen it for 29 cents at Target and WalMart in the last couple of weeks, but honestly I'd pay 46 cents an ear to get it from a local farm.

We paid 25¢ an ear at Kroger last week. A couple weeks before that it was 15¢ an ear at Meijer. I've seen it as low as 10¢ an ear. I will not pay more than 33¢ an ear for corn.

Yeah when the roadside stand come out I think they charge around $3.50 to 4 bucks for a dozen...I was think that's what I'd pay at the actual farm...but I guess maybe it's still early for tons of local corn and there's not much "competition" yet, plus it being a holiday weekend!!!!

Well, we don't have local corn until August up here usually and the shipped in corn at the market right now is 3/$1.00. I wait for the native corn because it looses all its flavor during shipping.

It's not "in season" for us.. so I'm seeing 2/$1 at the farmer's market... and about 25 cent each at Walmart...

I don't think it's ready here yet. lol We bought some a few weeks ago from the grocery store - it was 4 for a $1. And I'm really bummed - I live in IA (where there are a TON of cornfields) and I have yet to come across a roadside produce thingy. But maybe it's too early? I have no clue!

The price of corn is actually up this year, so your price probably isn't that weird. Remember the price of fuel directly effects the price of food. It takes a lot of fuel to get an ear of corn out of the ground. My husband is a farmer, so I know this stuff.
And I'm graving corn on the cob now too. |

well normally when corn is in season here we get local corn and it is about 15-20 cents an ear. I think it is at 6 for 2 dollars in most stores. We usually buy frozen though when it is that high. I can get a huge bag of frozen for like 5 dollars

here in Indiana our crops were delayed because of all the rain during the spring. a lot of farmers markets and stores around here are running low or have none. its an odd thing to be low on corn when you are surrounded by cornfields lol

I only buy from local farmers and freeze so I have it year round and it costs around $2.50 to $3 per dozen in my town

At our local supermarket (Price Chopper) it's usually about $2 for 6 ears. Local farmers at the farmer's market were about that last year, charging $4 0r 5 for 12 ears. But a small touristy shop here that has some farmers market type stuff (called the Apple Barn) was charging $7 for 6 ears!!!! I was in shock!
I have about 50 cornstalks growing in my home-garden so I'm soo excited for August!!! Around here (maybe everywhere?) we say the stalks should be "knee high by the Fourth of July" in order to get any ears... mine are hip height and higher!!! Woohoo!!!! |

Roadside stand corn on the cob
My husband is the one who stops to buy ours and he said that we're paying about a quarter per ear. We eat it every day when we can get it. We'd pay more though since its a family business. I asked and they're currently getting their corn from a farm in a nearby state, but they'll have their own corn from their own farm later this week they said. We also buy peaches, onions, cantaloupe, zucchini and cherries when they have them. I think we get five or six peaches in a box for about four dollars. Worth every penny for those peaches. They are amazing!

I've paid as much as $6 for 3 ears of corn. It gets cheaper in the summer, but it's very expensive for us because it's not generally grown here.

This morning I paid $2 for 12 at Martins. There was a farm stand set up on my way home selling 12 for $3...but here's the thing... local corn is only about 3 feet high & won't be ready until then end of the month. Odds are good they bought that corn at Martins or Wal Mart & are selling it at the stand for a profit. We get a lot of that in the summer. The farmer's market people are trustworthy enough but the random farm stands are not.

They were on sale last week for 6/$1.98, but during the summer they can get down to 12/$2.
