Default Any Christmas Day Disasters?

Like stuff not working? Or Broken?

Keira & Cooper both got Dream lites, Cooper's worked, Keira's was broken. Walgreens was opened and I ran down there & they let me exchange it, no problem.

I get home and a little while later comes out, she was trying to take the shoes off her new frankie stein monster high doll and her leg broke at the knee cap. Ugh!

I took it back to Target this morning, they were completely sold out of Monster High. So we ran to Toys R Us, they had the same one, for like $4 more, but Keira decided she liked Cleo better and got her & got the roller derby Frankie Stein w/ the money one of my Aunts sent her.

My youngest son got a giftcard from us for an online Star Wars game... and it says that giftcard was invalid. I've typed it in correctly several times and it keeps saying it's already redeemed. But not by us. So... I'll be trying to get that figured out. Somehow. Luckily it was only $10, but still. Blah.

We went to use a gift card today (prepaid Visa) that my MIL sent the kids and one of them is invalid. I'm not sure what's up with that, but it isn't a big deal. Just a little confusing more than anything. Also, SIL mailed gifts to the kids early last week. They were supposed to arrive (priority mail) on Thursday or Friday. They finally came TODAY. She was so thankful because one of the things for my daughter was a one of a kind owl figure from Mexico.

Other than those two minor things, no disasters as far as gifts go. I was sick all day yesterday so that wasn't great though.

Not really. My daughter got a pair of royal blue skinny jeans from my sister to go with a sweater I bought her and she wanted to wear them to an annual Boxing Day family party today but they were too tight on her. She cried because she wanted to wear them so bad.

Other than that, nope!

Sorry to hear about the little hiccups you've had. We've been lucky this year to have none.

This is actually the first time in Keira's 8 Christmases anything has gone wrong, so I can't complain I guess.

woke up Christmas morning and first thing started having pain in my side...a few hours later I figured out it was another kidney stone. Eventually after about a gallon or so of apple juice, cranberry juice and water I started to feel a little better. Took a pain pill around 5:00 and did not wake up until late morning today. Didnt get to spend much time with my daughter & granddaughter like I wanted to because of that. So that kinda sucks but other then that no real disasters.

we had no real disasters...forgot some batteries for a sure hefty Nerf gun, but wasn't too big of a deal, but the dog found a stuffed animal he liked (that was out of Peyton's stocking) and chewed the nose off and was pulling the stuffing out within 5 mins@@@@@

No disasters, but my mom and my sister got me the exact same gift. They thought they were getting coordinating gifts but when the saleslady went to get boxes, she must have just grabbed some already in the box and grabbed the same one twice. No biggie. It'll get exchanged and I'll get it in a few weeks. It was more funny than anything.

We almost had to cancel Christmas... DH and I got kiddo's cold Christmas Eve night... so on Christmas Day when everyone was to be coming, we had called DH's 98 and 87 year old Grandma's to let them know that we have colds... the 87 year old didn't care, she said that they experience worse germs on the bus to the casino... . DH's aunt, who takes care of the 98 year old was concerned, but apparently gave in to peer pressure. So yeah - we both felt like crap and had to get food and the house ready to host 18 people... at least I had done 95% of the cooking on Sunday, before I got sick...

No disasters but we had horrible bad weather all day..we were under a PDS (particularly dangerous situation) tornado watch all day long and we didn't get to go to my grandmothers for her Christmas Dinner. Thankfully most of the storms didn't explode til they were east of us but it still just kind of ruined my day b/c my mind was half on the weather all day.

We didn't take pictures of our Christmas eve dinner. We had family pictures taken so it wasn't really a big deal for me but it would have been much better if we had more photos.

I told my mother to get DH a fancy coffee maker when she asked abt gifts three months ago. Lo and behold, DH's parents got him a fancy coffee maker for Christmas. He tells me that they never mentioned to him what they might get him, so it's just a coincedence.

Utoh.

Maybe my mom ended up getting him something else... or we may end up with two fancy coffee makers come Sunday.

We had to cancel xmas eve dinner with in-laws because we had the stomach flu and we had to cancel xmas plans too. Only my hubby stand up without getting the darn bug. Oh and my daughter's BIG gift is not working. Called TONKA and emailed them and nothing yet.

One thing in one of my kids' stockings didn't work. But he was distracted by the other stuff, so it's all good.

Well my kids got sick, spreaded the love to everyone. But the biggest thing that stinks is we don't have any batteries for all the fun toys.

Overall we had an amazing Christmas. No complaints!

I thought it was funny though that I, my SIL Gail and my SIL MIchelle all forgot the food or some of the food we were bringing for Christmas day. My mom was not amused, but you know what - no one was hungry, it was a nice dinner and we all enjoyed ourselves. In my book no big deal.

Also, I got three crockpots. 2 of the programable ones and one of the 3 crockpots in a line one. I have to return one of the programable ones and the 3 in a line one - of course my mom and sister can'T find the receipts so I'm sure this will not be fun.

But other than that everyone was super happy with what they got and had a great time.

DS1 was given my mom's old 17" Dell laptop. She got a new one in the fall. He mostly just plays Minecraft & I was delighted to get him off the ancient rebuild refurb Dell he's ben using that is missing like 8 keys. He was so thrilled to get this new to him computer. It was the best Christmas gift ever! It runs Win XP, which should be ok for Minecraft.

But no. Apparently Minecraft, Win XP, Java and this particular model Dell (and only this particular model *eyeroll*) do not get along. So 10 minutes after happily playing his game it shuts down. Then it does it again. And again. The kid was in tears. DH googles & discovers the not get along problem.

We decide we'll just upgrade the OS, we can get Win 7 for $90 on Amazon. I ask DH before I order it if I needed 32 bit or 64 bit (which was stupid of me. It's XP, they didn't have 64 bit for it, it could only be 32) and he says "oh I'm sure 64 will be fine". We pay for next day delivery and SURPRISE you can't load 64 bit onto the computer. Kid is in tears again. Now I am waiting for the 32 bit to be delivered today.

I so wanted to strangle that man but I really should have known better & said something like "Are you sure? Did you check?" before I ordered it.

I know it's too late, but if you're unsure, go with 32-bit. always a safe bet.

Well, it's not a disaster, more a MAJOR SCRAPBOOKER FAIL on my part. We'd gotten my brother this awesome board game, but it needed batteries so to pull his leg I wrapped the batteries and gave it to him, then stashed the gift itself under the chair he was sitting on.

Oh man, his face when he opened the batteries! He was literally torn between so hurt we would get him batteries and then struggling to not show it and thank us!!!! And my major fail? NOT ONE PHOTO OF THAT MOMENT. Or even a video. Completely slipped my mind. So now I need to scrap and journal every last detail before I forget!!! We did get a photo of him holding his (real) present
