Default random question:christmas music??

Please tell me I am not the only one who thinks it is to early for radio stations to be playing christmas music. One station is playing almost completely 24/7. Not that I mind christmas music it just feels like we should get through thanksgiving before that starts. I love seeing ornaments out early though so I can add to my stock since my tree is not a "traditional" tree as I put more country/rustic type ornaments along with a lot of balls in different sizes. So finding new ornaments in that theme is always nice. But music for me...way to early

Definitely too early! We have 1 station here that plays it 24/7, IIRC, but not until the day after Thanksgiving.

Yeah, start around the 25th...that gives it a full month before Christmas. It doesn't need any more than that.

Agreed. I love Christmas and Christmas music, but I really don't think the festivities should begin till after Thanksgiving.

It is way too early. I just saw two Hershey Kisses Christmas commercials, it is messing with my head. I'm still working myself up for Thanksgiving.

glad Im not the only one. Thankfully the stations I listen to hte most in the car have not started playing it just quite yet. I usually change the station when I hear it because well Im not a huge fan of most christmas music. There are certain songs I love every year but some I just dont like.

Uh oh - I'm one of those weirdo types that can't get enough of Christmas music. I listen to it off and on all year (not LOTS, but occasionally). And now -- I already have my Pandora tuned with my Christmas station, and I've been listening to it for a week or so. AND I just got the tree up today. Things have sucked the last couple months, and Christmas makes me happy. So I decided what the heck

My 9 year old loves to sing Christmas songs all year long and it drives me a little crazy. I started joking that every time I hear him sing a Christmas song that he'd lose a present. At this point he'll never get a present for his whole life. He loves Christmas music so much that I just found a station that plays it already. But he has to listen to it with the headphones on, because I'm not ready for it yet. LOL

oh decorating early I am fine with. I once put our tree up on Halloween while my husband took the kids trick-or-treating LOL> Boy was he surprised to come home on Halloween to a Christmas tree. I am kinda worried with our new dog who is really still a puppy but so energetic that she will knock the tree over with how she runs non-stop when we do not pen her up. She spends a couple hours a day penned and a couple outside playing and the rest with us but she is never ever calm and laid back like our other dog. She runs everywhere she goes and runs into everything like nothing is non-moveable for her. Kinda thinking we should change her name to bulldozer instead of Daisy because she is soooo not Daisy like LOL. I think Daisy and I think calm & peaceful and there is nothing calm about her

I've been listening to pandora Christmas music for WEEKS now and I LOVE it! I wish a radio station was playing it already so I could listen in my car! I need to burn a CD apparently. At least you can just listen to a different station if you don't like it.

Personally, I think it's the most important holiday anyway... so why not celebrate it longer.

You are not nuts. You are totally correct. Christmas should wait until AFTER Thanksgiving. That's why I love Nordstrom's so much - they wait to put up their decorations after Thanksgiving. Every year I make sure to go to the store office and thank them for waiting.

Two years ago there was the battle of radio stations in my area - now mind you, I don't live in that big of a city... haha... one station clicked over the day of Halloween... which caused a competitor station that was known to start Christmas music on Nov 1, to scramble to get it on the air on Halloween... then at the first of the year, both stations fired all their jocks and did a format change. Then last year we didn't have any stations playing Christmas music until two weeks prior to Christmas, which I didn't care for... this year, the station that was known for Christmas music early switched to Christmas music on the first of Nov. So hubby (works in radio) is expecting another format for Chuck FM.

Otherwise a first in our area is that one of the station is streaming a second channel online that is all Christmas Music... it's a first for us, no other station has two streaming channels under one call letter for radio.

I really dont mind if it is mixed in early. I do love some Christmas songs but if it 24/7 this early it just kinda burns me out by Christmas where I don't want to hear it. And for some strange reason I cannot figure out no matter where we go in central florida I can get a station out of Lakeland (west coast) but it and another country music station are the only ones I can tune in anytime. Otherwise our choices in the truck anytime are news 24/7 (which used to be a classic rock station...ticks me off that they changed ) and then the two oldies stations which one is now all Christmas. Not much of a selection to listen to in the truck. So Luke Bryan gets played A LOT!! I think I know every song now on his cd.

I love Christmas Music, but before Halloween I was in a store and heard Christmas music being piped in-that was a bit too early for me.
I wish we had Thanksgiving (here in the states) a little earlier (not quite as early as the Canadians) but Maybe the first weekend in November-then we would have a longer Christmas Season!
Here in my part Washington State, all the Fall leaves are gone off the trees, and we got our first SNOW last nite! I think I may be going through some Christmas tunes today!
In the Winter here is it often dark and dreary so I do leave my Christmas Decorations up for a LONG time after Christmas because we need the Cheery Lights to get through the day. Once the Sun comes back out I put the decorations away.

I prefer to hold off on the Christmas music until the day after Thanksgiving. That gives a month & that's a decent time for me. I love Christmas music but I pretty much saturate myself in it in those few weeks and am content to wait another year.

I'm trying to convince my husband to put the tree up this weekend. We're going to put it up next weekend anyway so why not do it this weekend & get it out of the way? But so far he isn't going for it. He prefers his holidays to occur 'in order' as he puts it.

Although I've been listening to Christmas music on and off the last week to get me in the mood to work on Christmas stuff, I'm in the camp that malls, radio stations, and stuff should hold off on it and the decorations until after Thanksgiving. I remember when I was growing up and Santa at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving parade signaled the start of the Christmas season. I wish more retailers would get back to that. In my mind, that just keeps it all a lot more special instead of seeing/hearing it so early and getting tired of it long before Christmas gets here.

I also like to wait for the Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. I like it and listen to it some, but don't really like to listen to it a bunch until right before Christmas. I've even seen several people with their Christmas lights up and on already! I usually have the lights up by Thanksgiving, but don't turn them on until after Thanksgiving.

I do want to add that I don't enjoy it on the radio quite as much. It's extremely repetitive---and gets old really really fast. So I probably wouldn't love it just yet. I'll have to see if we have any that do start Nov 1st though! I'm curious now!

We had a major snow storm this weekend, so I've really been craving winter music - not necessarily Christmas music, though. We listened to Winter Wonderland this morning, and I think stuff like that is great. It's hard not to want to listen to that stuff when the world turned completely white overnight. I'm a Christmas music junkie, though, so I have to admit that I've already started listening to it a little bit here and there.

Maybe my problem is our lack of seasons then? Because it is still in the 80's here.

I have no problem listening to Christmas music year round. I don't listen continually but I won't turn off a song if it shuffles in when I'm listening to my kid's ipod. I've been known to listen to some purposely too.

Decorations... if anything had to wait until after Thanksgiving, I'd go with the decorations. I've had mine out early a time or two but I prefer not to see Christmas decorations until after I've eaten Thanksgiving dinner. I don't mind getting up from dinner and being transported to a Winter Wonderland though.

I have a rule that I don't start listening to it or decorate before December 1st. Its my favorite holiday, but each holiday in my mind should have its due respect and not be overlapped by the one following it. I also take my tree and decorations down by Jan 1st.
