Unhappy I was MIA today

I hate being absent on sneak peek friday!

But Jake had his big appointment with the psychiatrist today for his psych evaluation.

The ADHD diagnosis was confirmed along with ODD, and he says he may be showing signs of a mood disorder...namely bipolar...that was a lot to take in today about my child!

We got him started on some meds today and we will be doing 2 visits a month with this new doctor while we figure out what else is going on with him. On one hand its good...we are finding out what is going on with him. But it's just .... a lot.

I feel kinda bummed, and kinda relieved.

I feel like shopping.

You definitely deserve some retail therapy for yourself. That would be a lot to take in, but it is a good thing he got a diagnosis and some treatment options coming his way. (*hugs)

((hugs)) That is a lot to take in, but now that you have some diagnoses hopefully you can start getting things under control through the meds and other methods. Treat yourself to something wonderful--you deserve it!

Sorry for the hard day amy. I don't think anyone likes to hear that their child is anything less than perfect. I'm glad you got some answers though.
Good thing tomorrow is Saturday and there seems to be an abundance of awesome goodies coming out!

I'm sorry. That is so much to take in and there isn't any prep for how to feel about it! He is at such an advantage having a good, solid diagnosis. You are a good mom for making sure he is getting the support he needs. PM me anytime. My ds1 has a very similar situation and he is 10 now.

Now, have a nice dinner and then get ready to ... go shopping!

That is a lot Amy... but it sounds like you all are doing whatever needs to be done for your son by getting him assessed. Keep us posted and sending hugs your way.

P.s. not sure how old he is, but I work with little ones (3-6 yr.olds) and have some good books I could recommend.

(((hugs))) Amy! I know that much can be difficult to take in at once!

But I swear retail therapy is the best therapy! Well...that and scrapping about it.

Aww, I'm sorry Amy. Like Emily said it's hard to take when we are told our kids are not perfect. My DS has ADHD and I am thinking possibly OCD or a sensory issue and he's been on meds for 2 years now and I have to say that it's made a huge difference. Just remember that it can sometimes take time to find the right meds for each person so don't be discourage if these ones aren't working. Hugs!
