Default Photo overload!

My son went to Boy Scout camp last week for the first time and I was wondering how I was going to scrap it since he didn't take a camera. Well, the adults that went took lots and posted them all in an online photo album (the full-sized images). I'm downloading all the pictures now... over 1400 of them! Not all are of summer camp, but I think at least 500 are. Once I get them downloaded and unzipped, I'm going to have to go through all those pictures to find the 10-12 that have my son in them. Ugh! I'm very grateful to the Troop for putting the pictures there, just feeling a bit overwhelmed right now!

Hi Kate! First of all, photos should be fun, so don't attempt this huge edit until you have a 44 ounce soda and a huge chocolate bar. Go get it.....

Are you back?? Okay....lets begin!!

Go through and delete any photo of that is NOT of your son (or his good friends). Keep any photos that are "scene setters" or "projects" that your son has made.

You should have deleted about half.....or more!

Next, if you son has a silly face or has his eyes closed....get rid of it!!! Your external hard drive only holds 60,000 photos....make sure they are good ones!!!

Now it should be able to narrow it down to the photos you want to scrap!! Good luck!!

Now that I've thought about this some more I'm looking forward to going through these pictures. I'll wait until my son is back from visiting my parents then I'll pop some popcorn and the whole family can sit around the computer together while Robert tells us all about camp (and I can sift through the pictures as we go). We'll have a nice family time and I'll have the bonus of the pictures all sorted out

I'm expecting to only have 30-50 pictures by the time we're done.

Thanks for the suggestions, Kjersti!
