Default Default Settings in PSE6

Anyone know if I can change the default settings for the drop shadows in PSE6? The defaults are way too high and I never use them, I'd love to be able to change them to the settings I most often if I can, but I'm not sure if I can change it.

I would love to know this too! Do you mind me asking what you would change the default to be? I don't think I am very good with drop shadows, so I like to ask others what settings they use most of the time.

Well for the most part my shadows are "around" size = 10, distance = 10, and opacity = between 40 and 60. I normally start there and then depending on my element either keep it, reduce it, or increase it. The default setting just make everything look like they are going to jump off my page LOL. I like my page to look more realistic, like a traditional LO. Of course there are times I like them more to give more of an effect, but for the most part my settings are around that.

I sure wish we could change it... but I really don't think we can... or I'm sure someone would have informed us about it! lol! You might need to find yourself a friend with CS3 and ask them nicely to save a style for you with your fave settings and then install the style into your program.

Ohh I had no idea I could do that Megan - I know someone who could save that for me, I just have to figure out how to install the style once it's done.

I know how to install in PSE5, but I hear things are harder to install in 6. So, I hope someone can help you with that!

once you have the style - shoot me a PM and I can either walk you through installing it or send you my cobbled together method for loading brushes, styles and actions in PSE 6.0 on a PC running Vista.

I've been wondering that too. As you can see on a few of my LO's, I've used the preset shadows and some of them turn out CRAZY! I've been adjusting the colors manually and have done some of my own after taking a tut online. I'm in PSE 5 and I don't know what to do either.

You can fiddle with the settings, they're not set in stone. Click on the FX on the layer you want to fix up and you'll see you can monkey around with the settings to your hearts content.
