Default Zipped file request for designers

I love shopping and buying goodies...but I hate waiting hours to download files because my internet crawls downloading large files.

So as a request, can you please split any zip files if they hit over 100MB? Preferably even over 80MB. It takes me almost 20 minutes to download an 80 MB file on the fastest internet available in my small town, and I know other people are probably dealing with similar issues. I really appreciate you guys and your hard work, and I know zipping and uploading can't be fun.

Jen, glad Im not alone but sorry you have to deal with it as well. I thought maybe it was just my crummy Verizon dsl service. It's probably both though - large files and crummy dsl ... lol.

Yeah, I'm completely paranoid that I won't click on all of the links and I'll be missing stuff I won't notice until it's too late. Then again, if it was taking forever to download, that would not be fun either.

My internet speed is the bane of my existence. I've been trying to download my purchases today for two hours and only have one kit done so far!

I'm so jealous of all you girls with fast internet.

Well I just recently got faster internet. I will say this, bigger files seems more likely to get corrupted on dl on slow internet and for those who dont have unlimited bandwidth, they could sometime double the bandwidth used to download bigger files.

But yes, I prefer one DL too.

I do it in 3 downloads as much as I'd love to have one file I have slow Internet too

The good new for those that like one folder is it is easier to move to one folder after the fact than those who struggle to get their purchases downloaded

One zip might be nice, but I know there are people out there like Jen who have to deal with sucky speeds, so I always shoot for 50MB max.

It's been a habit for so long that I would feel bad about even an 80MB file. LOL!

Well, I'm wondering if designers can do split zips and then an all-in-one option, of course labeled "complete download" or whatever.. that way everyone's happy ...except maybe the designers who have extra packaging work hehehee

I so prefer the one download, too. Its much easier. I don't think I could handle slow internet. I would be frustrated all the time.

I don't mind the separate downloads because I'm used to organizing my kits just the way I want anyways and I remember the "old days" before high speed internet.

I'm glad so many designers are considerate of people with slower DL speeds and do multiple zips. I'm lucky to have fast internet now and if everyone had it I'd love all-in-one zips, but I still remember when I first started digiscrapping and only had dial up. Just before I went to bed I'd start DL-ing a kit (back when a complete kit was 20-50 MB), and it took hours. If I was lucky there were no interruptions and it would be waiting for me when I woke up. I don't miss that at all!

I absolutely <3 how Traci's zipped folders are...one zip and the preview is already outside the individual folders inside the main folder! That's heaven! LOL. But we have super fast Internet and it only takes a minute or two to download it!

I totally understand the frustration of having slow Internet though. Whenever I am at my parent's house...OMG... It takes hours to download one kit! I am so glad I only have to deal with that when I visit now... I would go bonkers to have slow Internet again.

So sorry you and many others have to deal with this! I am sure the designers here will take care of you.

Wow I am spoiled I guess. If usually only takes me a few minutes to download the one dl files and the smaller ones are way fast so either or is fine by me. Once I open the multi ones I move them into one folder and tag so I can find stuff.

I use to have fast internet, before we moved. Now its slow or slower internet with the only two choices. I adore multiple files otherwise they seem to dl empty or have issues or what not. It takes me around 10-15 mins to dl 1 folder even when there are multiple files.

My husband just told me that the reason my download stinks is because "you never download just one file from the shoppe, you are always trying to download ALL of your purchases at the exact same time. Your trying to blow up their server and your mac!" ... ahahahaha.... ooops... okay, so maybe if I just do one kit at a time it won't be so bad then. Im gonna try that.

LOL'ing at myself :-)

when I was on dial-up I could take several hours to get one single file. A whole day sometimes to get one kit!! If I did not get disconnected that is LOL

Im ok with how it is now. My download is faster but it still slows down occasionally...but at least I know itll stay connected

I love one download too but I remember slow internet and that is much worse!! I'd rather download 2/3/4 zips then have to have peeps on slow internet download a HUGE file!!! It takes no time at all to combine folders!!!
