Default Do you ever dislike Facebook?

Ugh, every once in a while I feel like deleting my personal facebook account for different reasons. Today is one of those times. But I know that I would never actually do that because it is connected to my business pages which I CANNOT let go of and will not let go of. However, I do feel like I need a break from my personal page for a little while so I logged out in hopes that it keeps me away a little longer. I just miss those days when facebook was not even a concern or didn't occupy some of my time. I mean, don't get me wrong, I know that it definitely has advantages but for me it is more of a love/hate relationship.

Do you ever feel like you need a break from facebook? If you do, how do you do it?

Not so much facebook, but certain friends on facebook.

I just hide them until I'm ready to know what they're up to again. LOL!

sometimes I feel a bit like I'm back in high school... I comment on other's posts and photos... yet, if I post something, no one cares... I made the decision to step back and not read facebook... but then I hear there is a earthquake in Chili this morning and a friend of mine is there on vacation - so had to find out if he was okay... so, I guess it has it's purpose...

I still really love Facebook. I use it mostly as an online scrapbook, I use it all the time when I am doing project life, or making my yearly scrapbooks to reference dates, quotes, photos etc. I do get annoyed at some people from time to time, but even the lamest posts can get people talking about difficult subjects which I think is really cool.

It can be a huge time suck it I let it though!

The ONLY reason I am on FB anymore is for scrapbooking stuff. If it weren't for digital scrapping I would DELETE it in a heartbeat.

I've never been that invested in it, but it's the only way I stay in touch with my childhood friends and some mom friends I don't get to see much. I used to go weeks at a time without checking in or posting. I'm trying to be better and now log in every couple of days to like and comment. But it's still weeks or months between posting updates of my own. I guess I don't like to live my life that publicly and feel like no one wants to read a million posts about my kids.

But yeah, I have a love/hate relationship with it, too. The love part is knowing what's going on with people I was once very close to but otherwise would have lost touch with due to time and living far away. The hate part is the way it sucks time and some FB policies.

I mostly use mine for an online scrapbook too. I haven't friended anyone from school days, or old workmates either (save a few close friends) so I don't get any drama on my feed. My friends list is mostly family and scrapbook aquaintances.

I used to love it. I loved the community, loved hearing from old friends. Now, every time in go on there, it feels to me like a large room where everyone is yelling to be heard.

I can't just hide certain people. I don't even want to hear from people I do like! So, I gave it up at the start of the year. I don't read my newsfeed anymore! I chat on messenger. I chat in groups. But I just can't read everyone's news anymore. It stopped being enjoyable for me about a year ago and the feeling just hasn't gone away.

It has positives and negatives for me - on the negative side I hate all the political hoo-hah that happens there, not really much into people arguing about religious beliefs as I think those are personal choices that should be respected by everyone. On the positive side I get to see what my kids are up to, one of my cousins who has pretty much excluded family for years and a few random people from high school and college. It is handy for scrapbook groups though.

It bothers me a lot. I find it messes with my mood and sucks time away from what I really need to focus on. It is a catch 22 for me though. I have two business I run that are VERY facebook dependent and a few CT's there also. So, I just try to limit my time. Today was a bad FB day for me. SO I had to walk away from it and turn off notifications on my phone. Too much today.

Yari if it helps, you can make yourself a new profile, make that profile Admin on your pages. Then if you do delete your personal FB page it still works. I've done it and worked a charm. Although I am back at that point where I want to completely delete FB again too.

Well, for me it's a double edged sword. Many (most) of my friends are online, I don't have a lot of friends in the flesh (I mean, my friends are in the flesh, just far away in the flesh). (That was a lot of flesh. Sorry.)

So, I rely on Facebook to keep up with the friends I keep in my computer, and see what old classmates and stuff are up to. I'm way more active than almost all of my former classmates, though, which makes me feel like a total internet addict. (Pssst...I am a total internet addict.) So without Facebook, since I don't have a lot of friends near to me, I get lonely.

But the problem is, WITH Facebook, sometimes I feel even MORE lonely because I don't really have a "place". I mostly feel like I could up and delete my account tomorrow and only a handful would even notice. I feel REALLY invisible and sometimes that's hard on me.

So I can't decide how I feel on Facebook. I've taken to posting some of the random spewings of my mind on Twitter because there I don't feel so dumb talking to myself, for some reason. But this has been a therapeutic post for me.

I have zero friends from real life I see on a daily basis on FB. I did that route long ago and it was horrible...
I use it just for scrapping and keeping updates from my mom re: my brother's chemo.
that's it.
I don't do politics, religion. Digiscrapping is my hobby of fun and joy, and I keep it safely that way.
I was off FB for ONE year, it was needed and when I returned I made it my goal to keep it my happy place

I enjoy silly banter with friends and it's a great tool for keeping up with what my older kids are doing. I would never know what my almost 23 year old was doing if it wasn't for FB haha. I have hidden a few people and deleted some. I don't have time for drama, constant complaints, and other stuff. For the most part, I just scroll past things that don't interest me LOL

I am I'm a strange job... I am a casino black jack and poker dealer so all the people I see face to face, well they suck. Sorry but they do. The people I work with are wild and frivolous and the people that come there are degenerate gamblers. I have good acquaintances but they don't make great friends. So my world is all online.... The people who I relate to and enjoy sharing my life with... Scrappers, photographers, designers. I just limit the people on my page. I hide the idiots, and keep the people who mean most to me visible!

It is so weird. All through HS and college I was a very confident girl that didn't care about what others thought. I find that I have lost that a lot on facebook. It is so strange. All these insecurities came out. So mid 30's I am dealing with things people fought in jr high and HS it seems. Like I get upset if a friend from real life tells me she is too busy to meet up or chat on the phone but I see her post about talking to others on the phone and how her day was made with a great convo. It totally hurts my feelings. I am SO not that girl! It makes me mad what it has become to me. Is that making any sense? Another example is someone I was super close to (online friend) just "poof" disappear from commenting on my post, chatting and liking stuff but it SUPER active on other online friends posts. It seems intentional and I take it personally. Silly really but it still hurts my feelings and messes with my moods.

I don't like being this emo insecure girl! It is NOT who I am. (kinda ranting but hope it made sense. LOL)

I really just post for my own memory and to look back on stuff to record.. I often stop myself from posting or delete (often!) because I don't want to come across as annoying.

I like it. I use it more as an online gallery and blog both of which I use to keep track of my scrapping. I don't post statuses to necessarily communicate with other people (if I want to do that, I will do it directly), but as tiny blog entries, KWIM? I also like that it keeps lots of otherwise unrelated people, businesses, and groups in one place so I don't have to hit a million other message boards and forums.

Most importantly, it's how my BFF and I communicate with one another. We both hate talking on the phone & she usually doesn't know where her cell phone is, so we have a year+ long ongoing conversation going there.

Exactly this. I nearly always post a status or something funny my kids said so I can add it to my PL later. If people comment on it, then I get my social interaction that way, but if no one comments, I don't care either.

I actually think it's neat for the people it works for. The little bits and pieces I've seen here and there are cool, it just really isn't my personality to update or to comment for some reason.

yes.. maybe I like it because i'm such a scatterbrain and it's one of the easiest ways I can make sure I have something jotted down? I'm not going to lose it.. I don't have to login and post it anywhere and I can search back easy.

I think the BIGGEST problem with facebook is (and i'm guilty of it too) that you don't really know how a person is feeling or what they are sounding like IRL when they post.. so things are often taken the wrong way or out of context or misunderstood I think.

I used to spend so much time on FB, but now, not so much. I mainly use it to post scrapbook pages and for the CT groups. It helps that FB is banned in China, so it's not easy to get connected and to spend so much time on it anymore.

I do use it but mainly to keep up with scrappy/pl stuff and also my uni group that I created for keeping in touch when we arent all on campus. Apart from a few friends/family I dont really truly keep in touch with many people. In all honesty I probably should do a friend/page/group clean out cause I'm not interested some people/things from years ago

FB is purely a scrapbooking place for me - i'm only on there to connect with my digiscrap peeps and will likely NEVER put up anything personal there. ever.

I like FB. For someone who does not live where I grew up, it has been amazing reconnecting with friends from high school and college. I had lost touch with almost everyone when I moved 1300 miles away. I'm old, so the internet did not exist when I graduated from either, so it was letters or phone calls, which just did not get done when we were all busy building our lives.

You young people are SO lucky to have so many ways to easily keep in touch with people you care about!

I don't FB with local friends however. That is where the drama is - especially with 3 of my very good, long-time friends going through divorces. So I don't have to deal with if I didn't get invited to this or that, or who is mad at who - THAT is where the jr. high stuff happens.

I also keep it my happy place. If there are people who constantly post stuff that upsets me, I just hide them or unfriend them. If it's just annoying stuff, then eh, that's fine - we all do that. I do keep up on my interests and news that way, but I rarely post about that kind of thing. I really use it to let my friends know what is going on in my, and my family's lives.

I like Facebook too. Pretty much for all the reasons Mary does. It is so nice to be able to easily connect with friends from home & see what they are up to. I left my hometown at 18 in 1985. There was no internet & I have always sucked at getting things in the mail so I lost track of a lot of people & it is great having this ability to read, or comment or chat with them again.

But I am really picky about who I friend on Facebook. I have no qualms whatsoever about unfriending people if their posts get too dramatic or are regularly passive aggressive or who are born again zealots for whatever politics or religion they are spouting. Even if I agree with them. I even blocked my sister in law because she posts about "That Crazy Wrap Thing" every 2 hours or so. And it helps that at this point in my life I really don't care what people think & while i am envious of one friend who is always jaunting off on foodie holidays with her (10 years younger!) boyfriend, I also don't really care how my life stacks up to others. The internet is a snapshot of a moment, like a layout without much journaling. So Facebook is almost always a pleasant experience for me

Facebook was neat at first. It was great connecting with old friends & distant relations & see what's going on w/their lives.

However, I do NOT need to know every single detail of a person's day. I do not need to know who pissed someone off at work every single day, I do not need to know what you're making for breakfast, lunch, dinner & snack every single day. (i'm referencing my relatives, btw)

I like getting the sales info & pertinent information. But I think it's spiraling out of control.

I do take a step back & not check it for a week. But if you have a business that depends on it, I don't think you can stay away for a week. Just step away, drink some calming tea, take a deep breath & find something funny. Laugher is the best medicine.

I also have a love-hate relationship with it. So I try to not think too much about it and when I'm in the mood I open it and otherwise not.
I'm not a person who will share her every moment with the world.... Just the highlights.
