Default Monthly Subs - Spin Off!

So in the Christmas gift thread, Marie mentioned Birchbox for her 13 year old daughter and I freakin LOVE that idea!

I live in a box and hadn't even heard of it, so I thought I'd just ask you girls to hook me up with your favorite monthly subscription boxes. I really think my kids would love something like this and would love to know what your favorites are!

Thanks!

R

I know BOTH of my kids really want something like lootcrate or nerdblock but with shipping/cdn dollar it's pretty pricey right now

I dont' have it, but I know ipsy is popular- it's a monthly glam bag. I see people opening their ipsy bags on my Instagram feed all the time - it looks like great stuff and the bags are so cute.

Hopefully Krystal will chime in, I know she does a few of the different makeup subscriptions. There are a lot of them out there!

I got Birchbox myself for a couple of years, but I stopped using it so I quit about 6 months ago. Nicholas, 9, gets Nerd Block Jr and loves it. He looks forward to it each month and gets so excited.

I've done ipsy.... the glam bags are fun, it's fairly cheap and there's lots of ways to enter contests and win once you get a few of their products to use.

lootcrate looks cool, that's one I'd do for the boys if I could.

I like barkbox for my fur baby... new toys to shread every month, LOL

We've done Kiwicrate off and on for the last couple of years for Ellie (6). She adores it.

I get Ipsy & LOVE it! Also I just started Stitchfix which would be fun for teenage girls. You can link up a personal stylist with her Pinterest account and she will send you 5 articles of clothing, accessories or both.
You can do it monthly, every other or every 3 months you choose when you get a shipment. It's $20 stylist fee but that amount is applied to your total purchase if you choose to keep all 5 items then you also receive a 25% discount. You also set up the budget of what you are willing to pay for items such as blouse, jacket, jeans etc...
I just got my first Stitchfix box and loved every item.

I've never been a monthly subscription type of girl, but my mom bought me a 3 month subscription to Jamberry's monthly Stylebox. I actually am really loving it! It's their nail wraps, and sometimes they throw in some little extras.

this one is pretty cool. My son got a couple t-shirts he loved in them, some comic books, some funko pop's and other odds and ends.

I did this one. It was fun for a while and then I stopped eating the stuff and the ones I really loved were out for months. Might be fun to try again though.

On the opposite side of the spectrum I would say dont do Graze.com. The portion sizes are so small so you end up paying about 12 dollars if I remember correctly for five tiny little portions. Not worth it at all. And I dont think you get to choose your snacks on that one either.

I do Ipsy and like it. I'm also leaning toward doing Doodle Crate for my youngest DD for Christmas.

I did Ipsy and Birchbox before. I liked them but I just couldn't justify the cost every month. I would like to try NatureBox at some point. There are subscription boxes for everything!

SO the Ipsy bags are really cute and super reasonable but I kinda hate the you're on the waitlist, but you can skip that if you direct market via social media for it to all your friends. For any of you who are doing that one... how long were you on this "waitlist" or did you just "spam invite" your FB friends to join Ipsy too? Kinda super annoyed and turned off by the concept at this point. Anyone have any helpful thoughts for me?

FYI... I wrote Ipsy and told them how lame the forced social media marketing was and asked them to cancel my membership. They took me off the "waitlist" manually this morning.

Soooo anyway... thanks to you girls, I'm doing a Birchbox & Ipsy sub for my Emily who loves any excuse to go into Ulta, Owlcrate for Katie my booklover and Lootcrate for Andy my little gamer nerd. I am SUPER excited about these gifts and cant wait to get and wrap the first boxes so those are waiting for them under the tree. Too cool!
