Not pregnant (yet), but hopefully soon: our first IVF is planned next month! I'm getting really excited about it, keeping my fingers crossed.

Congrats to all the moms-to-be and good luck for trying to conceive... or to get in labor! LOL

We just found out today that we've got a GIRL coming along around June 1! She was shy and kept her legs closed almost the whole time, but the tech was 75% sure. Yay!

Congrats to everyone!

Omg you have an envelope?????

I'm about three weeks ahead of you and also tem green. But if I had the gender in an envelope I'd have NO willpower.

But the green team is fun, no?

I was team green with my first and loved it! Except when everyone on my parenting message board was finding out - that part sucked because I felt sorta left out! Now that I know we're finding out this time, I have NO idea how I survived without knowing the first time around! I guess it's good that I did that with my first! Good luck!!

Non pregnant here.....but I wish I was! But BF is not in for it yet, wants to enjoy life a little more.

Question though....I see lots of you already know if you are having boys or girls. Is that normal in America? In Holland I guess 80% or more of the new moms and dads don't want to know what they're having.

I myself am not sure what I should do in the future.....having a surprise or easy shopping

It's pretty normal here, I think, at least where I live (middle of the country)... I don't really know anyone personally who didn't want to know beforehand! I don't think I could wait to be surprised... I want to know! I think it's cool that some people don't want to know beforehand... but I want the surprise spoiled!

I am 17 weeks today!! It will be my third, but Bill (DH's) first. We are not planning on finding out the sex, I thought it would be fun to have a "surprise" since I have one of each.

LOL...I "was" on team green, but we accidentally opened the envelope this past Tuesday.

I thought I would have made it to the big day especially since having the envelope since the week before Thanksgiving... guess not.

But after three boys the paper said "It's a Girl!" I am still in shock and can't believe it but so thrilled.

Congrats to everyone and good luck to those trying or trying soon!

Yes, it's very common, I know very few people that choose to keep the secret (there are a few though).

Congrats on expecting! Such exciting news!!

I don't understand really what the team green thing is, and they give you an envelope?

I had mine so many years ago. There was no need to do an ultrasound when I was pregnant with my oldest, and they didn't do them routinely. My second and third I needed to have early ultrasounds (8 weeks) for an accurate due date since I ended in C-sections. Couldn't find out with either of them either. With my fourth they did them at 5 months as well routinely (and I had three boys already), so we really wanted to know. It worked out great. I hated all the "I bet you're hoping to have a little girl this time". I loved being able to say, "nope...it's a boy and we are SO excited to have him join our family"!! It just made it so much more special knowing that "he" was joining our family, and not having that disappointment at the birth. I wish I could've known with all of them!

Some parents choose to have the ultrasound tech write down the gender and seal it in an envelope, so if they change their mind, they can open it.

Some parents even go as far these days as having a "gender party." They ask the tech to write it in an envelope, then they take the envelope to the bakery, and say "If it says boy, please make a blue-tinted cake. If it says girl, please make a pink one. Cover it in green frosting and make sure we can't see what's inside until we cut into it." Then, they invite friends or family over, and have a cake cutting.... and the big gender reveal with the cake colour. It's cute, but I don't see DH and I doing that one :P

Wow, that's fun! I don't think they make the envelope thing here, but that would be a creative way to celebrate this special moment!

Thanks Adrianka! I'll probably take a couple weeks off work when it's done, so that I can "nest" my little egg peacefully (and stresslessly!) so I'll probably bore you out with waiting about the PG test!! LOL Sorry in advance!

Woww, so many prengnant ladies in here! With two teenage boys I have no need for babies anymore!hahahaha

With the oldest I didn't get an utrasound and with the second I had one at 8 weeks and 12 weeks, that is it! They were both a surprise at birth and was very happy with them!
Because I was always fighting with my mom I was scared to get a girl!
