Default Help me pick a name!

It took us up until the birth of our son to pick out his name, Andrew!

As of right now, for our second son, we are thinking Tyler or Jacob.

What do you all think? Or what are your favorite names that I might have missed?

With Andrew, simply because of it's very classic nature, I'd lean towards Jacob. It's semi-trendy, but closer to classic than Tyler.

Jacob for sure. It fits Andrew so much better than Tyler. My son's name is Nicholas and it would fit, too.

Between the two I'd pick Tyler. I have never been a fan of Jacob (sorry for those that have one). My son is Jake and it drives us crazy when people call him Jacob.

I like Jacob with Andrew. It just sounds like brothers to me. My nephew is named Andrew and his brothers are Jonathan (Jon) and Nicholas (Nick).

I love the name Jacob (I have a 17 year old Jacob ) but just know your son will be one of a million Jacob's in his school. My son has always been known by his last initial... he thought his first name was Jacob B for the longest time! LOL I kinda wish I had picked a name that was a little less common because he always has had 1-2 other Jacobs in each class. Best of luck in your naming decision!

Thanks for the responses!

I didn't even think about the Twilight books and Jacob! Aren't more people fans of Edward though?

Jacob was going to be our boy name until we realized HOW popular it was. So then we ended up with a Evan and a Kyle. Although I do like Ethan as well. LOL, boys are harder!!

I have a Benjamin, and it took us FOREVER to pick that out, so I'm just glad we had two girls after that, it was so much easier LOL

Of the 2, I like Tyler best. Like others have mentioned, my first thought with Jacob is that it's so common. I'm not good with boy names, but I also like Jack or Gavin. They're fairly common too, but not like Jacob is.

Ok, so my boys are 9 & 6. In their grades, 3rd and K, there are no Jacobs. JP has two Tylers and a Tyson in his class alone, there are several more Tylers in the 3rd grade. They all go by Ty. (Of course he also has a Moustapha, an Akhil, and a Vayiko in his class...) Devin has one Tyler, one Jake, and a Jack. In the room next door there are two Tylers. Tyler, at least here, is definitely more popular than Jacob.

Classic names I'm very fond of are James, Peter, Thomas, Joseph, Andrew (which you have already---it just bears repeating), Stephen, and Alexander.

My DH's name is Tyler. I considered Jacob for my second son, but my first son's name is Blake and we figured we'd shorten Jacob to Jake, so it would have been Blake and Jake. Talk about easy to mess up!

They are both great names! Sorry, I'm no help!

Tyler and Jacob are good names. We named our boys Cameron and Connor so I'm partial to those names for boys. But if I was the only one naming our children (if DH gave me all naming rights lol) I've always loved Norbert. First, its a german name which is the largest part of my heritage (on my dad's side). And I love its meaning... Bright North. Something about the meaning of the name makes the name that much neater, ya know?

Oh Jenny, I LOVE the name Norbert! I don't think I've ever heard it before. I love unique names! Our first son will be named Jacob after DH's cousin who was killed in an accident by a drunk driver. But, if we have a second son, we're going to name him after DH's great-grandfather who lived to be 102. His name is Ruprick. I told you I love uniqe names! DH was really close to his great-grandfather & we hope we have 2 boys to be able to honor our son by using his name!

Wow! Ruprick is such a classic name!! Do you know anything about the origins of it? What a wonderful way to honor your husband's great-grandfather!

Wow thanks again everyone! I can't believe how hard it is to name my boys! If I was having a girl it would be easy... Allison. But nooooo, has to be difficult! I love the name Connor but my husband won't go for it. I also think I want something "normal" lol not that unique because of my own name. I was named after my Grandma so of course I appreciate my name and love that I share that with her but noone seems to be able to get my name right!! But it has meaning. So... I dunno

IF DD had been a boy he was going to be John Ezra after both of my grandfathers. We were going to call him John Ezra too. I thought it sounded very classic..I know not everyone is probably crazy about Ezra but I like it
