The BEST Surprise EVER!!
I just had the best surprise EVER!! My 25 year old lives in Texas, and I'm in California. He usually calls and talks to us on his drive home from work, or he talks to one of his brothers. He called tonight at 10 pm, we were chatting, and then he said he had to hang up but he'd call us right back. I went downstairs for something and there was knocking at our garage door. I knocked back wondering who the heck was out there. I asked who it was and he said, "Ryan". I'm totally WTH now. I open it, my youngest literally jumps in his arms until I could pry him away, and I got my hugs and tears!!
I haven't seen him since October last year, but he and his girlfriend planned a little vacation here. He dropped her off in San Diego and headed up. One of my boys knows, but he kept it a secret from me. Anyway...just had to share! Here he is in his lucky hat that I wish he'd throw away. He's had it for about 8 years!

Honestly...I can't believe he kept it a secret from me. This was one of those surprises that I wish someone was video taping it. He is just the most awesome big brother too. Both his brothers at home (17 and 21) want to do nothing else tomorrow but hang out with Ryan! I'm sure my other son will be over tomorrow night after work too.
Now...to show you what a bad mom I am, I'm going to let my youngest skip school tomorrow so they can hang out all day (and stay up all night tonight). and...he does  his mama!!

Awww, that is so sweet! I hope my boys still adore me and want to visit me when they're older like your boys.
And Liz is right... he's a doll! Too bad he has a girlfriend... he and my hottie sister (who is a 25-year-old kindergarten teacher) would make a PRECIOUS couple! lol And, on a side note: I like that hat. I think boys in those hats look adorable.

I told Ryan that Andrea will probably think I did that just because she was coming!! I think that this is the hardest part about being a mom of boys. They grow up and fall in love, and that person is more important than you now. I don't want to be one of those mom's that control their kids' lives, so I try to be chill about it all. He stayed up till about 3 am and played video games with his youngest two brothers. They are up having coffee, bagels and donuts now...and are all going to see "The Watchman" in an hour or so. I'm just kind of hanging out and watching them all spend time together. I think that makes my heart sing, kwim? I just made a layout about Ryan and his other brother when they were small, and I mentioned in it what an awesome brother he has always been. We had a period in college where he got messed up in drugs and all the wrong people, and I had to let him hit rock bottom. That was the toughest thing I've ever done, but I knew I that it was the only way for him to make a change. Change he did, and for the last 4 years he's done awesome, works two jobs and even bought a brand new little house in Austin, TX. I just wish he lived closer to me!
