thanks guys. I had so much relief from seeing him awake. It eased alot of the burden off my mind. Especially seeing that as soon as he saw me there he calmed down and reached to hold my hand. It was kinda bittersweet in the sense that him getting better also means I will have to tell him soon about our son but I am not really thinking about that right now. Ill deal with that in a few days/weeks when he is more ready to hear that news.

yes Laura. The dr told us when he first wakes up and asks just to tell him that our son is being taken care of. Not a lie but a whole lot easier to handle then the truth. One of the main reasons for waiting and not telling him right away is he will most likely forget it and ask again. They want to keep me from having to tell him more then once and to keep him from having to go through it more then once.

I'm so glad he was a alert for a bit, hopefully it will happen more often!
I can't even imagine telling him about your son. I didn't even think about him forgetting and asking again. Will it also stimulate him too much right now? I would imagine so, and that could be bad for him!

I have spoke to the dr about it and to a counseler about telling him and the doctor said I need to wait until he is not only ready emotionally but also physically to tell him so he needs to recover from his injuries somewhat before we tell him. But the meds he is on right now cause short term memory loss so even though he was awake he was still kinda in a fog. I could tell he was confused and he cannot talk. So I just explained to him he was hurt and is in the hospital. He seemed to understand what was happening once I explained where he was

I'm so happy that things are starting to come around for him and I still think about you and your family a lot and will continue to lift ya'll in prayer. I know it did your heart so good to see his eyes and know that he's working his way back to you!

its kinda bittersweet because like I thought would happen today he started asking "where's matt?" I could not answer him though so I just acted like I could not understand him since he was mouthing those words. Its so hard to know what is the right thing to do and to actually do it. I suppose I could have said that Matt was being cared for as well or like another nurse suggested to just say "Let's worry about you right now" but I just said I could not understand him. It was a rough day. And I miss him so much. Grrr I just want to have him here next to me. We are never apart for more then a few hours so this is so hard to be away from him all night much less more then a week apart.
