Default All the elements are missing in backup

I'm hoping that someone can help me figure this one out. My PC died. I had pretty much been backing up the files so I didn't think it was worth paying someone to try to see what they could get off the hard drive, if anything.

So now we have a Mac. I'm not able to plug my EHD directly into the Mac because it is not compatible and will try to reformat. So I have a PC notebook that I'm running the old EHD into and then I have another EHD that is both PC and MAC compatible. I'm trying to transfer all of my Sweet Shoppe kits to the new EHD so I can play on the MAC.

I've tried this a couple of times and so far they look like they have transferred. When I open the files on the MAC the papers (pp) are totally fine and usable but when I open the elements file (ep) the only thing in that folder is the .jpg preview. There are no elements to be found.

So far this is the case for every single kit. Doesn't matter which designer. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, if you read this whole message.

Have you backed up your zip files too or just the actual files? If so, try to unzip them again on your mac and see if that'll work. I have had issues with things not working when I transitioned form PC to MAC so I get your frustration. Why your files are behaving like this I can't explain, but it might be becuase they have been unzipped in a windows system and therefore won't work in an OS machine. Could be worth checking out. I hope you can figure it out and get your files working again. Good luck!

I'd try googling something like "problem transferring png files to Mac" or "viewing png files on a Mac" and see what comes up. I'm guessing there is a setting you need to change if it's only 1 file type you're having problems with. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your responses. So it took a couple of tries but the hints about looking for the png files helped. I found them...at least a lot of them. It looks like the EHD stripped the pngs out of the Sweet Shoppe folders and saved them separately. It's going to take a while to put all of the folders back together but at least I have them now.

Thanks again! Now I can start playing and maybe get my scrapping mojo back.
