Default Buying glasses online?

I wear contacts most of the time, but I have glasses I wear in the evenings. They're pretty old so I'm thinking of getting some new ones.

I don't want to spend a lot of money since I don't wear them all that often. I've looked at several online stores and am wondering if anyone else has purchased glasses online and had a good experience.

Thanks!

Kara

I've ordered from Zenni Optical and the glasses were just ok. The material was very cheap and I just didn't like them. But I do know a lot of people who order from there and love them.

I've ordered from www.coastalcontacts.com before and had good luck with those.

I've used Coastal and Zenni both and would use both again. The glasses from Coastal were a lot better than Zenni but Zenni was a lot cheaper

I've ordered from eyebuydirect.com and 39dollarglasses.com. I did well with the prescription sunglasses I bought but never got a pair of eyeglasses that I was happy with. I think it's primarily because I need a wide length (for wider temple) and alot of the eyeglasses online are not wide length. I fair a little better with the local optomistrist but even then, I can only find a few to choose from.

I've bought from Clearly Contacts (glasses) - http://www.clearlycontacts.ca/ (this is the canadian site but I am sure the american is .com)- actually I got a free pair - JUST paid $13 shipping! I see a coupon code on the homepage right now for your first pair free. Worth a shot!!
eta: I wear my free glasses ALL the time and get compliments on them all the time too!

I'm about to do the same thing Kara. My friend who wears glasses constantly recommended Globaleyeglasses.com so I'm hoping to find some there that will work. The ones I wear at night I fall asleep in so they're old AND crooked- I need a pair for "just in case" days when my contacts aren't agreeing with me

I have a pair from Coastal Contacts and love them.. although I never wear them, but they are fabulous for what I paid for them.

I never have but I have terrible eyes and very bad prescription which equates to a very THICK lens. When I get my glasses I pay like an extra $100 a lens for those super thin and light ones. But my hubby has gotten like 2 pairs from Zenni and my sister has gotten like 10 pair from there and they both love them!!!

I like Zenni. The lenses are just fine. The frames vary in quality based on the amount spent, I think. However, when you consider that you can get a decent pair of glasses for under $20, that is awesome. My store bought glasses were between $200-$300 and I bargain shopped! We don't have vision insurance, so we pay full price for glasses. Our insurance covers exams every other year. I use Zenni so I can have extra pairs. If I am out hiking or camping, I sure wouldn't want to lose the expensive set!

I’ve purchased several times from Zenni Optical and have got glasses in different materials, shapes and colors. I have never had to return an item because the glasses are all perfect for me. Zenni Optical is the real deal.

I bought Sam 4 pair of glasses for $75 and she still has all 4 of them and alternates between which ones she wears and I bought myself 2 pair (since they are just reading glasses) for like $25 and I have been pretty impressed with them....I would totally buy from them again.....just keep in mind you get what you pay for so the cheaper lenses are totally cheaper than the more expensive ones
