Default Switching to a Mac - Part 2

Ok, a while back, I posted about switching to a Mac. Well, yesterday, DH ordered me a brand new 27-inch iMac. It's being delivered next week.

So now, I need your help. What did you do when you made the switch? Did you buy a book (like Mac for Dummies, for example), did you find great web sites about switching?

What should I know? The new shortcuts? How to unzip files? Is there an ACDSee-type program for MAC?

Any help would be appreciated!

Oh, you are soo lucky... I wish I could switch my laptop to a Mac, but since I just got it in Jan... DH's choice, not mine. So, I use both platforms daily and have for the last 20 years... so I'm not the person to ask about switching... so I'll leave that to the other ladies to answer... just wanted to let you know that I'm totally jealous... ha, ha!

We just got the 21" iMac in March and it really wasn't that hard to switch. But I haven't scrapped on it at all so I'm no help there. Congrats on your Mac.

So exciting! You will love it. I bought the missing manual for Mac OS X Snow Leopard, although I haven't really looked at it much at all. I just kind of played around with my Mac when I first got it, and learned that way. If I couldn't figure something out, I'd do a quick google search, and usually found what I was looking for. It really doesn't take long to figure everything out. As far as unzipping files - you don't need to worry about it. You just click on the file that you want to download, and everything is done for you. Downloading kits takes a fraction of the time that it used to take me on my PC.

Enjoy your new toy!

I switched in February. I read Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual, Snow Leopard Edition. Googling stuff was also a big help.

There is an ACDsee for the mac, but I didn't like it - alot of the features worked differently. I use iPhoto instead.

You can tag like in ACDSee with IPhoto? I only use ACDSee to tag my pics and my scrapping stash.
