Still in grieving
Over Ben's hearing loss. But, I want to scrap about it in hopes that it will be therapy for me. I also want to document this major event in his/our lives.
So, link me up to kits (I know no one wants to think gloomy) that are sad, gloomy, life sucks kind of kits. kwim? I feel those kits will best represent my mood RIGHT NOW. Later I may want happy when I come to terms with it (you know - life goes on, it'll all be fine sort of thing) but, I haven't yet and am still really emotional and struggling with it. Ugh.....and on July 21 when I pick up my DD from her USAF Airman's run and coin ceremony I have to give her the news about her nephew. I HATE the thought of it. She loves him dearly and specifically asked that we not tell her anything but good news about his test while she is in basic training. I feel as though I lied to her, well I did lie to her actually. I told her he was fine and that everything went great and he is perfect. I have never delivered news like this. Breaks my heart. Anywho, see.....grieving. I am rambling. Those of you that know me, know I tend to do that. Sorry. Back to subject at hand.

Oh my goodness....these are fantastic girls! Thank you so much! The word strips included in these kits are what is going to make this a great process for me and reflect my feelings. I am sure I will have a page about grief, anger, guilt, etc. Lots of journaling to come. Hopefully they will all lead to a layout with journaling about hope.
Keep em coming, these are awesome.

Do you have Krystal Hartley's Fortitiude? I can't find it in the store, but I think it would be perfect if you have it.

I'm sorry, I don't really have any kit recommendations, but I know how you feel. I'm still processing Rae's autism diagnosis. There are days when it's fine, and some other days when she's having problems that it really hits home that I CAN'T FIX IT. I did scrap about it, and helped me release some of the frustration that my poor hubby doesn't want to hear. ((hugs))

Neenee- I guess I missed what lead up to the test for his hearing loss. Has he had problems since birth or did something happen to lead up to this? Does he have full hearing loss or just partial?

Awww girls....you are so sweet and kind and loving. You all really do make it easier to get through things in my life.
I know in the scheme of things, in life's "big picture" Ben's hearing loss is minor but, that doesn't help lessen my sadness. So I appreciate that you girls let me lean on you when others think I'm silly for worrying over something that is so minor to what others go or have gone through. I love you all so much. You are great friends.

Ben failed all of his hearing tests from birth. He had ABR testing done last Monday and he has partial hearing loss in both ears, the left worse than the right. He does not need a hearing aid at this point since he is so young and never really far (out of earshot) from us. His Audiologist was very "on the fence" about whether or not to do the hearing aids. He will go back in about 4 months for a checkup and will continue to do so for most likely the rest of his life. If it gets just the tiniest bit worse, he will need a hearing aid(s). It is a birth defect. My DD carries a ton of guilt thinking she did something wrong. Which she didn't, she was a wonderful preggo Mommy and ate healthy, went to all of her appts, etc. There is no scientific explanation as to why some babies are born with hearing defects and some not. Anyway, it has really hit me hard. As a grandmother, I just want everything to be okay and him to be perfect and have no barriers in life. So, this is hard for me to accept. And.....the worrying over what MAY or MAY NOT be in the future with his hearing is KILLING me. I am such a worry wart. I am really working hard to come to terms with the fact that it is beyond my control and there is no sense worrying over it. Easier said than done though.

I was definitely going to suggest a La kit too.
I'm so sorry that you are hurting so much about this and hope that scrapping about it will help you. I understand that you are grieving now but know that he will be just fine in his own way. I grew up with a friend who had to wear a big battery pack against her chest to support her hearing aids. That's how long ago this was. We still sang songs and put on shows for our families as little kids, went to dance class together as we got older and rock concerts as teens (which of course her mom worried about like good moms do and always reminded me to tell my friend when to turn off her hearing aids before the music would start). Now she is married with three babes of her own. I'll be thinking about you and him and sending good thoughts.

I think these kits are amazing and I don't have another to offer, but I did want to offer you some encouragement.
My daughter has a bilateral hearing loss that is moderate and getting worse. It was a huge blow when she was first diagnosed, but we always tried to be positive about so that she could come to appreciate that she could live and full and happy life without her hearing. And she is. She is the most joyous, happy person I know. She wears hearing aids in both ears and they are a miracle. As is our daughter. And your grandson. I know you're sad and need some time, but please stay positive for Ben and help him learn that he can do anything, be anything. If you ever have questions, I would be happy to share what we have learned. xo
