I finished a great LO yesterday and so bummed I can't share it for a few days. It was for a CT. Why is the waiting to post so hard for me? It is really silly.

I had the world's worst Chicago dog from Sonic today - bottom bun was hard, top bun was really soggy..but it's too darned hot to take it back and demand my money back. So I just ate the dog. and am still hungry. *sigh*

ummm... Sonic is not the place for a Chicago dog

when we thought we were going to be moving to Dallas we had said that we were going to have Portillos delivered for Mark's birthday every year... they make the best Chicago dogs.. and they deliver

No - it's not, but when you're all cranky, still grieving, hot from water park play, and a load full of groceries, and it's only $2 - you take the hit on the 'real food' chin and get something quick and easy LOL Besides..the Route 44 sweet teas were what we were REALLY going for LOL

I LOVE Sonic Happy hour. MMM cherry diet coke. Sometimes I hate living In The Middle Of Nowhere. It's the only fast food out here! I have to drive 20 minutes for a grocery store that isn't the Super Save, who charges $7 for a package of bacon. I don't miss suburbia but I do miss convenience.

Oh, and Fort Worth peeps, check this place out. I am most def taking El for a field trip this fall! You can call ahead and let the kids get a tour!

http://www.mansionfarms.com/

They have a CSA but I live on an acre and have my own garden. Of course, it's dying a slow death because of the drought. We're thinking of getting chickens this fall, cause I'm not paying $4 for a dozen chicken eggs!

You're not missing much, though the drinks and the ice cream is pretty yummy!

The only time I've ever had Sonic, was when I was on my first after highschool, adult adventure, I flew to Missouri to visit a good friend and her buddy let me take his truck (that's the way to a girls heart right there) & her kids to get Ice Cream. I had a cherry limeade & yum!!!! it was delicious.

Two things at Sonic that will have me continuously going back for more......their drinks and pickle o's. OH MY! YUMMY! The rest of the food can go away.....my hubby loves it though. *sigh*

And talking about drinks.........I have discovered a new drink love there. I use to LOVE the soda Peach Niji. (I think that is how you spell it). Do you remember that drink from way back when? Well, now I go to Sonic and order a peach sprite! It is a perfect copy cat of my old favorite drink. Just thought I would let you know in case there is someone else missing that drink or wanting to try something new. It is DELICIOUS!

I'm trying to avoid Sonic and other fast food and eat better, but today is one of those days where I just want something that I shouldn't have.

I did jump on the jam bandwagon and have made two batches of raspberry this morning and am waiting for the next set of jars to get out of the dishwasher so I can make the next two batches. What is it about canning that is so satisfying and calming? Weird.

I haven't canned fruits or veggies myself, but I've helped a friend, and it definitely is a lot of work, but at least you have canned fruits and veggies when you're done.

It's not too tough, time consuming. I've done jam on my own, but used to help my granny & my mom when I was younger.

My grandma still cans at least 300 jars of various things every summer. Pickles, relish, watermelon rind pickles, pickled cauliflower, beets (they're the best!), applebutter, all kinds of jams and jellies. I've never done it myself, but someday I should learn how so we can keep all that yumminess in the family!

Homemade pizza for dinner. Then I took Zac to the pool for family night! It was packed - the heat index is 101 outside - but we had soooo much fun! (and of course I took some pics)

What's sadder is that my son LOVES it, one of his "top 5s Mom". Unbelievable. Why I go to the effort to make anything "real" is beyond me. These people inhale any and all food, without thought to how long or difficult it was to make. Or not.
