Default Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR Camera

A friend is looking to enter into the world of DSLR cameras. I saw this camera on special at Best Buy today for only $480 (Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR Camera). This seems like a great entry level DSLR camera at a great price to me, but I wanted some second opinions and know there are lots of great photographers here.

Anyone have one of these cameras or have experience with them so I can let her know? Would you recommend it at this price point for a beginner photographer looking to step-up from a point and shoot?

I love mine, and that looks like a great price. I've never used the kit lens on it, and generally take my pictures with more open apertures. It has the same sensor as the 7D, minus some bells and whistles. I love it and would totally recommend it.

I think that is a great price for that camera, and a great entry level DSLR. I actually just recommended that one to a friend yesterday!

Thank you all so much. I'm going to recommend it for her because I thought it sounded great, but we have Nikon's and I know little about the Canon cameras.

I hope she loves it!

I debated on which camera to get and was looking at the T3i, 60D and the 7D. I went for the mid-level one. But already had a camera that I paid a good amount for that did not meet my needs. I am happy with mine but I think Canon is an amazing company and whatever model your friend chooses it will make her very happy.
