Default Santa question..WDYT?

Dang I just typed this all out and thought I posted it but don't see it in the forum...if it shows up twice sorry

So my question is...if this baby cooperates and we're able to have her on the 8th as planned that means DH will be home from DEC 6 through DEC 15. Since Avery is only 3 and doesnt' really know when Christmas is as far as the actual date...what do you think about Santa coming early to our house? I'm thinking a couple of days before DH has to leave...I know I'll be worn out with the baby and all, but it's better than having Santa alone after DH is gone...do you think it's too early? I mean we'll still have Christmas with my parents on Christmas Day so he'll still get presents then too kwim? WDYT?

I say do it! Its all about making wonderful family memories, Nikki. She'll never know that the "date" was wrong, but she will remember all the fun that you had on Christmas.

And remember: kids don't need a big show. Just the basics. Don't overdo it too soon after the baby.

Why not? Just read a note from Santa that he came early as he wanted the family to have Christmas together! That makes Santa look cool and really ALL KNOWING!!!

I think it sounds like a great plan. We did Christmas in January last year because that's when my DH returned from his deployment. It was fun.

When I was little we used to travel to our grandparents every other year for Christmas and when we did that Santa always came early to our house. I always thought that was so cool that he came just for us.

My son used to go to his dad's every other year for Christmas. We always had Santa come right before he left. We even did our Christmas eve traditions the night before then had Christmas morning.

DO IT! I think it's a great idea and if he catches on, you could tell Avery Santa came early because he knew his Daddy would be home (like you wrote and told Santa or something).

I think that it's a great idea. I have my kids thinking that I have Santa's phone number and email address so that I can give him updates. You could always take that route and say that you emailed Santa and asked him to drop off his gifts early so that Daddy could see him open them.

I think it's a great idea! We went to Prague last year the day after Christmas, so Santa came on Christmas Eve morning so the kids could play with all their toys before they left. Mine were ages 1, 3, and 5 at the time, and they didn't notice a difference! I think it makes more of a difference that his Daddy is there rather than what date it is.

It's good to hear y'all think it's a good idea. I'm going to run it past DH when he calls tonight but I'm sure he'll love the idea.

You know I hope next Christmas will be a "normal" one for us. We've only really had one normal one in the past 4 years. DH was deployed to Afghanistan during Avery's first Christmas..then we had one year when we were all home together, then last year we were in between our old house and waiting to close on this one so we were living with my parents at the time and had Santa at their house..now this year we have to schedule it around deployment and having babies lol...maybe next year everything will just be calm. lol

Definitely sounds like a great plan. My sister's husband is a firefighter and Santa has come early many years based on his work schedule.

You just have to do it, since the whole family will be together!!!! What a treat for your husband too, to get to share in the joy!!! He'll be able to take those memories with him also, and maybe his Xmas won't be sad since he won't be home!!
