Halloween craft ideas for 1st graders?
I've been given the task of providing/teaching a craft at the Halloween party for my first grader's class. Does anyone have any ideas for me to try out? Something cute but not too hard that doesn't take too much time, as I'm sure they will be more interested in the candy that surrounds them! Links are greatly appreciated too! Thanks!

spider pops
paper plate scarecrow you'd need to cut templates out ahead of time IMO coffee filter vampire bats plastic spoon witch There are a bunch of great activities here. I have done a few of these with my first graders. Time is a huge factor when I choose activities for my kiddos... some kiddos will rush the entire project where others will 15 minutes to glue the witch eyes on 'straight'. HTH!

Well we just went to a little fall festival the other night and a couple things they did there were...
We cut out a bat and then spread peanut butter on the back of it and then laid it down in seeds. Punched a hole in the top and put a string through it. Kids can take it home to put in the tree for a bird feeder. (need ziploc bags for transport home) They also had Oreo Cakesters and snack cakes that the kids stuck pretzel sticks into for legs and M&Ms for eyes to make bugs. (once again bags for transport if not eating there) This site also has TONS of good ideas... http://familyfun.go.com/arts-and-cra...een_ms_crafts/

I did a craft class with my homeschool group last year and we made these scarecrow spoons (you can get a pack of 4 for $1 at the Dollar Tree). I prepainted the spoons and glued the buttons ahead of time so that they would be dry in time (my class was only 45 mins long) so the kids just added the embellishments to the hats and did their own face features.
I added a clothespin to the back so that it could be used as a recipe holder! http://www.michaels.com/art/online/p...eet?pid=e04490 http://www.michaels.com/art/online/p...eet?pid=e04493 http://www.michaels.com/art/online/p...eet?pid=e04491
