Default Introduction and a few questions

Hi, everyone! My name is Jennifer. I am a SAHM mom to 3 boys and a girl. I came across this site from Candid Snapshots page.

Anyways, to my questions. I am dying to learn how to make tags and don't know where to start. Can you do it with the GIMP program or do I need PSP or something?

I have GIMP but am having difficulty learning how to navigate the layers. I have read just about every tutorial, Gosh I almost need hands on experience.

How did you learn?

Hi and welcome!! Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by tags... what are you making exactly? And I have never used GIMP or PSP... I use Photoshop Elements 5.

Welcome to SSD!!!.....sorry I can't help you out with that program either, I use Photoshop. If you are serious of digital scrapbooking Photoshop Elements is fairly affordable and very commonly used.

welcome Im sure youll love it here...as for your questions

I have PSP XI. You can use GIMP (I think there are some people who do). You can use Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. There are some programs specifically for scrapbooking but I would not recomend them. They kinda suck for multiple reasons. I started on Photo Explosion Deluxe. I learned about it there then moved on to Scrapbook Factory Deluxe. Ive tried a few other scrapbooking programs. I got PSP XI for my birthday last year. I bought a book to learn PSP XI first and then got a couple scrapbooking books. I read them cover to cover several times. I started slowly at first and my early layouts really sucked. heck even some of my newer ones do IMO LOL. After awhile when I started building my supplies I was able to start kinda branching out a little and became more comfortable with my program and my own scrapping style. It just takes time and for you to become familiar with the program of your choice.

Welcome! Have a seat and make some layouts while you're here. We're a very helpful bunch in that area.

Welcome! And sorry, but I use Photoshop, always have, so no idea about GIMP. Look forward to seeing your layouts!

Welcome! I tried GIMP but found that most of the digiscrapping tutorials were written for one of the Photoshop programs, so I bought Photoshop Elements and have been happily scrapping ever since. I've never done any tagging so I can't help there.

Welcome in! I know there are a couple of GIMP scrappers around, maybe if you start a thread with GIMP in the title it might catch their attention! Hope you find some info on that program!

This is what I want to learn to do with my pictures. Not sure if it's called siggy tag, or a scrap. This is the first forum I have found that covers making things with kits.

How did it take me so long to read this? Honestly, I don't know what a tag is, but you could definitely do something like that with GIMP. I use GIMP for all my scrapbooking, so I could teach you if you needed. I've got a few tutorials on my blog, so check those out. Send me a pm if you have more specific questions. I'd be happy to help out! And welcome!
