A few weeks ago when the mojo was moody and cranky I decided to finally take the plunge and organize my almost-five-year-old digistash. I used a specific system designed by Kayla Lamareaux from Digiscrap101.com.

She uses Lightroom to tag her stuff, and what sold me on the system was that info you tag unto photos is written in the metadata itself, not just on a database or catalog that could get corrupted. That means if I somehow lost my catalog I could just reinstall LR and my tags/keywords would still show up.

Anyhow, I emailed Kayla to thank her and tell her I'd blogged about how I did it. Today she blogged about my post! I'm so tickled because I feel a bit like a celebrity just waved at me or something, lol.

Thanks for letting me share! Organizing my stuff is a really big win for me this year because my stash has been a mess for about four years already!

I love Kayla! We're good friends, she lives in Utah, too. We used to live 5 minutes away, but she moved a year or so ago about an hour away. I don't get to see her as often now. She's an amazing lady!

Andrea, how cool is it that you're good friends with Kayla? I am seriously now a disciple of her system, lol. What's ironic is LR isn't even supposed to be used for scrap stuff, but she made it work. I was able to organize everything in about six days, averaging about 3 hours/day.

Yeah, she's an amazing lady! I really wish she still lived 5 minutes away, we would do lunch and runs to our favorite photography store!

I bet her class is awesome. Anything she does is top notch and she cares so much and puts her heart into everything.

I'm glad you were able to get everything so organzied! That's awesome!
