Default Some p and pt...

In Newfoundland, where I live, many guys work on the offshore oil rigs, usually they fly in and out via helicopter.

One crashed into the Atlantic this morning, with 18 men on board. It is bitterly cold here today, and blowing gale-force winds. They have found only 1 so far. If you can spare a few that these men come home to their families, it would be much appreciated!

Thanks guys...living here, deaths at sea are not uncommon with all the fishermen, etc, but we never get used to it. No updates that I've seen yet.

keeping everyone in my thoughts.

my cousin worked on one of those offshore rigs years ago, sadly a fire broke out, and he didn't make it off the rig. When Des worked the rigs (in Alberta), I told him I wouldn't let him go offshore, no matter how much money he could make.

Positive thoughts are on the way...my dad and most of my 6 brothers were/are offshore oil rig workers, so I can certainly empathize...I hope they find them all!

Checking cbc.ca it looks like nothing has changed. My heart goes out to their families and friends and I'm sending lots of positive thoughts and hope.

Update:

1 survivor
1 body found

They still haven't found the rest. It's dark here now, almost 9 pm, the winds are gusting to 48 mph here, and the temp with the windchill is 3. It's so cold, the weather is getting colder overnight, so it's not looking good.

They did have on survival suits, so apparently they can last in those temps for about 24 hours. It's pretty tragic for all of us, Newfoundland is a small province, we have about 1/2 a million people in the entire province, and it feels like every small tragedy touches us all.

I'm sorry to hear they haven't found all of them yet. Still thinking and praying that the rest of them are found alive.
