Default Ella just took her first step!

A STEP! at 8 months! This child is going to be the death of me lol

I have the living room barricaded with plastic bins to help keep her from getting into stuff (which isn't helping much now that she's figured out how to climb over them) but she was cruising around them and I was sitting in the floor and held out my hands to her and she took 1 whole step by herself towards me. Now she may not do it again for another month but that little step just floored me.

I cannot believe i'm about to have another toddler already. DS didn't walk til he was 13 mos.

She just won't slow down..once she tackles one thing she moves right on to the next. My only frame of reference is DS who took his time on EVERYTHING...we had a period with him for about 2 mos where I could sit him on the floor with toys all around and he stayed right there so I thought all babies did that lol..boy was I wrong! I think that lasted about a week with Ella lol

all babies are defenitely different. My kids did not walk until at least 12 months for my boys it was closer to 15 months (but they were BIGGG babies!!) My nephew was walking at 9 months though.

I am learning that the second one learns fast how to get around. Ava did the whole sit and the floor nicely, and Lilly has been...well Trouble! LOL Good luck momma, you're going to need it.

Avery started pulling herself up and "walking" around holding onto the furniture and stuff when she was about 5 months old I think. Then one day right around 9 months, she decided to take a shortcut across the room rather than work her way around the perimeter...just walked right across. We were at the home of some friends with a pretty big group there, and I think we all just sat there with our jaws on the floor. It just was so out of the blue and a pretty good distance that she had traversed.

Landon didn't walk until 13 months. But he was content being on all fours...very fast. I think since Avery preferred her feet, she was just finally ready to give up her "crutch" and let go.

Have fun chasing her!

Oh my! She sounds like JP--he did everything early (including being born early, lol!) He was rolling both ways at 2 weeks, sitting up at 3 months, army crawling within weeks of that, pulled to standing at 7 months, never crawled or cruised, but he started walking at 7½ months. Devin was my slow poke--he did crawl (9mos) and didn't walk until 13mos!

Uh oh, you're in for some fun times now, LOL.

Jason walked at 9 months (and hasn't had more than a handful of calm, still moments since), Ben at 19 months, and I think Lauren is going to be an 8-monther, too. She's still 7 months old, but given what she's doing now I'll be very surprised if she isn't walking in the next month.

Awwww yay Ella!! Good luck chasing after her, lol!! Libby was the same way...she crawled for not even a week before she started pulling up and cruising the furniture. She did that for awhile and then walked at 10 months. Claire seems to be happy with just crawling right now although she does like to get into everything around her. I'll enjoy this now because I know before too long I'll really be running after her, lol!!

Our babies are growing up waaaayyyyyy too fast!

that is ridiculous - i'm annoyed byron's already inch-worming around the floor and at having to think about baby-proofing the house; that Ella is now walking/cruising/climbing is scary, that's a whole other level of baby proofing

Oh man, that's early. I was the same as you, DS was so laid back and easy going he could have cared less if he was up moving around or not, so he just sat or layed and played, I loved it. DD is completely opposite and I am not ready for a crawler or a walker.

It's crazy! I cant' get over how different my two are...DS had JUST started doing his army crawl at 8 mos and here's DD trying to walk.

She won't let me get a good pic though b/c as soon as she sees my camera she wants to drop and crawl up to me so she can get ahold of it. She's not cooperating much in the photo area these days lol

could you try to have your son or husband distract her and get a picture from behind?
