Default How far would you travel to meet digi friends?

I've been seeing everyone having little meet and greets! I want to do one, I've only met 2 digi scrappers before. My friend Amber, who I got started doing it and Amy (clearskies), she walked up to my yard sale in Alaska.

So, how far would you travel?

P.S. I'm in Michigan, if anyone wants to get together sometime.

I would travel, but I would totally want it to be somewhere really fun. Like Vegas or in a dreamer world Hawaii!

I drove to Chicago from Newfoundland, Canada...about 5 days of driving for a playgroup meet up! We stopped at my mom's in Ontario for a few days to break it up, but it took us about 4 1/2 days to drive straight home from Chicago.

I'm hoping to get down this summer, I'm going to mom's and I have a bunch of my playgroup friends that live in Chicago, so I'm hoping to hook up with them again. Some of them I've seen twice now and they really are friends for life.

I'll update you once we get closer to the summer, I'd LOVE to see you!

Where in Michigan are you? I'm like 30 minutes from the central IN/MI border.

I think a lot would depend on where it was, if I had another reason to be there/friends to visit, etc.

I know lots of girls are near Chicago, I've never been, but I'm close enough I'd totally go for a scrap weekend. Or just a day visit, I keep telling DH we need to go for a weekend.

The Best thing to do is just pick the date and book it. Then post that you are going and when and where. Then everyone else that wants to can go and book it and try and book a hotel close by or share hotel rooms. When we went over Christmas I was able to get a room at MGM for 71$ and that was on a weekend, its much cheaper on weekdays.

I'm in Illinois too...we're in Chicago about once a month. I had totally planned on getting together with Leu and whoever else was game this summer anyway. I've traveled about 100 mi. to meet an online friend. We get together about once a month now at a central location for both of us. Sheana and I have been planning on meeting for what, the last 3 years now?

I love to travel so I'd go pretty much wherever, especially if it was for a big digi meetup.

I've only met one, my friend Jenni, last July, in Florida. I've forgotten the distance, but I was in Key West and she in Miami, so we met in the middle in Islamorada, lol. About a 2-hour drive for both of us.

ETA: Okay just checked, it was about 85 miles But I imagine I'd travel up to 100 miles.

I met 2 digi chicks when we were still living in Boston, both of them were in town visiting family. SO fun (and surreal!)!

I'd LOVE to put together a TEXAS digi retreat so we could all hook up for a scrappy weekend somewhere! I know we have lots of digi chicks down here (although i do realize TX is ginormous!... i'm down in Houston).

For me it would completely depend on the circumstances.

I first met Sharon in Fort Smith...she was there for robotics and so our family drove the 200 miles to see her. And since we are besties, if I ever have the money I'll be thrilled to drive up to KC and see her.

For a meetup, I would probably make a day trip (and if the Dallas peeps ever plan something I WILL make the trip down there). And if the Houston gang ever plans something, I might have to plan a trip to mom's LOL.

Well, since Salt Lake is only about four hours from me, I voted over 200 miles. I would love to hook up with some of my Utah buddies sometime when I'm there visiting my sister in Orem!

Or even some of my Vegas friends.

Well, I've arranged two and participated in three digital meet 'n' greets before as well as attended and taught at a digital convention, so I've done a lot of traveling to meet my digi friends. It pays off to not have babies until you're 29 1/2! *lol*

Let's see... I flew to WA and spent 2 weeks with an online friend, drove to DC and spent a long weekend with some digi friends, and drove to Grand Rapids, MI to spend a long weekend with an online friend. I've even been to Emmy's house, but that was pre-Sam and the babies.

The furthest I have gone to meet someone online is 164 miles, from where I used to live (Kamloops, BC) down to Bellingham, WA - to meet some friends from a online moms forum, back in 2000.
Furthest I have gone to met a digi-scrapper is about 19 miles, to meet KristinCB (that's how far apart we live).

I have a friend who topped both those, travelling 1258 miles from Pheonix to come up to Kamloops to meet me ... for my wedding!!! She was my matron of honor, we had never met in person but had talked online daily for 2 years and on the phone weekly for about 1 year. She was my best friend in essence, so she didn't hesitate to come up for it.

We had one fly from Australia for our board gathering! We had 20 people from all around the world. It was neat.

PUHlease no mass get togethers until I get back on US soil this July!

I am TOTALLY up for a Chicagoland gathering. It would be a 12 hour drive for me, but I could probably talk Joel into letting me fly, we'll see.

I really would love to meet all my friends here, but I'm to far away .... living in Germany makes this nearly impossible.... I have met a German Digi Friend and I want to do this again as soon as the money is not such a problem here

But you are all invited to visit us here in our mill!

I was in Germany last year. I was really hoping to meet up with Sylvie (Sausan Designs). She is about an hour from Stuttgart, but we were only there for a few hours, and then we headed to Basel Switzerland on a bus (we chaperoned my son's band). We came back through and then on to Austria too, but it didn't work out. If we had stayed the night in Stuttgart like the plans were originally, we would've met up! I did meet up with friends in Vienna though. I had stayed with their family in Innsbruck 30 years ago. It's so funny though, because that was the highlight for my dh, son and myself. It's one thing to visit another country, but to get together with people, eat, drink, laugh...it just made it so much more memorable!

Depends...if I had the money to make a trip out of it (visit places, stay in a hotel for a few days, etc.) then I would travel a long way. If it was just for like a lunch or something up to 100 miles.

I have met up with Misty, Dani, Shawna and like 20+ other digiscrappers back in like 2006. I don't know if any of the other girls at that retreat hang out here at SSD. If so, please wave! I had a great time and would love to do it again!

I constantly meet great people through my blog but unfortunately most of them are from America. That's a bit far for me to go
I hope to one day meet as many of them as possible when I travel overseas

I put other. A couple of years ago, I hopped on a plane and flew from Houston to Seattle to meet up with Kim (xboxmom). I don't know if either of us were digiscrappers by that point, but it was right around the time that I started playing digistyle, instead of with paper and glue.

I have actually travelled to Michigan to meet scrapbooking friends ... way back when I was a paper scrapper I travelled to Michigan with my 3 sons ... we stayed at the lady's house (and we chipped in for food) ... we went sightseeing during the day ... and at night we scrapped (and my boys played video games in another room). It was a lot of fun!

How far I travel depends on if I have any money come summer ... we are spending quite a bit in Robotics traveling to competitions ... so I may or may not have enough money to splurge this summer ... although I know I would travel to Oklahoma!

Free room and board in Oklahoma....and if you come at the right time, maybe in Texas too. LOL.
