Ooo, that makes me excited for this season. I think it could add a really interesting dynamic to the game since you know not everyone is going to be able to make it out without backstabbing their loved one. I like most everyone who's coming back, except Colton. I figured he'd be back though, ugh.

Do we know how the tribes will be split? Like are they starting out on the same tribe as their loved ones or will they all be split up until the merge?

The way Jeff talked was like it was going to be split tribes, but you never know.

In one way, I think it's cool they are bringing back some familiar faces, but I also think there are probably a ton of people that want to be on the show that don't get a chance because they "recycle" players.

Just watched! Definitely should be an interesting season. I think a lot of the audience likes to watch players return - but I also get what Tracy said about not casting new players. The show has been on for a lot of seasons - so this is a nice way to mix it up so it's not the same thing again. Can't wait for it to start!

Yes, according to what I heard, the loved ones will be on opposite tribes.

I think some of the recent seasons with all new people have been some of the worst, so maybe they have more success when they bring people back. And honestly, I have missed so many seasons, a lot of these people are new to me anyway.

To me this is nice mix of returning vs. new players. Even though they're family members, they haven't actually played the game before. The nice thing about returning players is they tend to be more strategy-focused which for me makes it more exciting to watch. Sometimes the all-newbie seasons feel a little like the blind leading the blind, haha.

I always feel like I need to add something smart and maybe witty to the conversation - when I am really feeling a lot of the above! LOL

LOL, Adam doesn't understand my Survivor love so I have to talk about it somewhere. And well, as you saw in the FD video, clearly I'm a talker.

This is one of only 2 shows that I watch with my boys (the other is Top Shot). So it's definitely MUST-SEE TV for me.

I'm a spoiler 'ho, but haven't found any for this season yet. Darnit.

I watched through the first All Stars and have only watch a bit here and there since then. My family is addicted, but I am usually just in the room when it's on and not engaged. I know Rupert, Gervase and Tina. That's it. I'm not sure that's enough to convince me to watch, but maybe. I guess I did watch the last 2 seasons -- the one with Skupin and Lisa Whelchel and I sort of paid attention to last season (Cochran won, right?). I used to love Survive and I would do fantasy leagues and everything but it just got to be too much. Too many young pretty people to try to keep straight.

It'll be interesting to see which couples turn on each other. I think Colton's fiance would be smart to get rid of Colton early just so he's not associated with his behavior and I'd keep a single player around a lot longer than a couple..for the vote alone not to mention the chance of another person to take you to the finals.

Interesting bit about Redemption Island too that the family member can choose to switch places with their loved one..not sure how that'll play out. I'd never voluntarily remove myself from the game just too much of a risk.

Ok, I missed the part about Redemption Island and now that makes me less excited for the season. I want them gone when they're gone - RI takes out so much of the drama. But I know Jeff Probst loves it so I'm not surprised it's back.

at least they added a twist lol

Quote:
Redemption Island Returns... With a Twist
This edition of SURVIVOR will feature the return of Redemption Island, where castaways who have been eliminated from the game can seek redemption and return for a chance to win the million dollar prize. The twist this season, however, is loved ones will be forced to choose whether to "save" their partner on Redemption Island and switch places with them, thus allowing their loved one to immediately re-enter the game, or leave them in exile to survive on their own.

So does that mean they're in opposite tribes or not? Or would they return to play in whatever tribe the other was in? And if they don't swap, do they still stay to fight it out at RI?

I still don't like RI simply for the blindside factor - who cares if you get blindsided, you just go to RI anyway. This last season had a lot of blindsides and it was exciting because they were actually out. That was it, no second chances. I don't really care about them fighting their way back since it rarely amounts to anything.

My husband and I are huge Survivor fans. He likes the drama people like Colton create. I can barely stand to watch him on the screen. I get why they would bring him back though...everything out of his mouth is so offensive it adds a whole new dimension to surviving!
