Default iPad 2 vs Kindle

I got a kindle for Christmas, not the touch screen one, but I love it and have read so much more with it.

Well today, DF brought me home an iPad 2, Ive wanted one forever. So my question is, what do I do with the kindle? I love how small it is, and easier to carry, but is there really any point in having 2 things that can serve the same purpose? I can download the kindle app for the iPad and read on there, should I get rid of the kindle?

Who else has both? What are your thoughts?
I dont want to have the kindle sitting there gathering dust when I can pass it on to a family member.

I'd keep the kindle If you go to the beach, etc you can use your kindle, It's really hard to read in the sunlight on the iPad IMO

I keep my kindle near me even though we have an iPad. It's easy to toss in my purse and read when I have a few minutes in carpool line waiting for kids, etc.

My hubby has the old style kindle and a fire... and he just asked for his old kindle back (which anti going to happen - gave it me ) because he has too many distractions on the fire... angry birds, words with friends, checking email... that he isn't reading.

I agree with above. Kindle is just an eeader while tablets are full of distractions. Another thing is, longer battery life. If you just want to read for hours(specially when you travel), you wouldn't have to worry about battery running out.

Yeah, I'd keep the kindle too! If it was a fire... maybe not... but if it's just a regular one, I'd keep it!

So uh, how come he didn't wait a couple months for the ipad 3?!

He doesnt even know about the iPad 3, thats what happens when he just goes and surprises me. But Im not complaining, and iPad 2 is better then no iPad at all.

One other advantage of the Kindle is that if you start to have lots of books, you can store them in collections. Not all of the apps can do that-Kindle for Android can't, Kindle for PC can. I don't know about the ipad app.
