Default Favorite iPhone or iPad apps??

So, I'm very behind the times with technology, though my husband is in IT and on top of all things techy...anyway...

I thought the iPad looked super cool and I've been talking about them, so dh surprisingly got me one for Mother's Day! Woah! Never expecting a gift like that...nothing like the drill I got one year! LOL

It isn't even here yet...should arrive sometime this week...but I'm already searching for apps and there are so many to choose from as iPhone apps work on the iPad too.

What are your favs? Are there some must haves? So many have as many 5 star reviews as they have 1 star reviews! How am I to make sense of that?

I'm looking for things for me, but also for my 3 boys (8 years old and 5 year old twins). We already have Netflix...so we can watch movies...but I'd love to try other stuff too.

Oh, and didn't someone mention a scrapping app of some kind?? Are the Adobe apps worthwhile? Are any of the design/scrapping mags available yet?

Can you tell I'm excited?? hehe

yay for an awesome present!! I was waiting for my son at the mall the other day so I wandered into the Mac Store (just like the Apple Store). Anyway, I played with the iPad and ooooh, it's nice. Just like a big iTouch, which is what I have and love. I bet you'll love it! I think it will make it onto my Christmas list (not that I'll get it, but it will be on the list LOL)

I'm not sure if all apps work on the iPad because I just bought one for my iTouch the other day and there was a different version for the iPad. I'm not sure why. Anyway, the apps that I love and use everyday are:

Kindle app. oh I love this. Read everyday on my iTouch. Download books from Amazon.
Bejeweled 2 app. If you like the facebook game, you'll love this too. I play it everyday as I wait for my son to get out of school.
ToDo app. Keeps me on track with a nice to do list that alarms at me when I'm suppose to be doing things. LOL
Pandora app. I don't even buy music anymore. Just listen to Pandora!

I have an iPhone, and you definitely need Bejeweled! LOL!

I have Diner Dash, which is a super fun game!
Runkeeper (if you're a runner)
Lose It (diet/food tracker)
Facebook of course
Yahoo messenger
Kindle
Cooking Dash (similar to Diner Dash...total time waster)
Daily Digi
Where's Waldo (the kids play this)
TSN (that's the sports channel here in Canada, I think ESPN has one as well)
Ping (texting iPhone to iPhone)

I use all of these most every day. I am looking for more fun apps too, so I'm keeping an eye on this thread!

My kids like
Scribble (free!)
Airport Mania
Penguin Whacker
Checkers
Freshwater Aquarium
Mad Libs
Infinite Maze
Pegs (it's like that Cracker Barrel peg game)

Here's a site that lists good apps for kids I've found some good ones from her reviews
http://www.iphone4kids.net
I just saw a post that said there was a Toy Story read along that was free for the ipad too at one point. Can just search for it I'm sure

I know this one has been mentioned but my very favorite is the Kindle - there are quite a few free books on Amazon! Also already mentioned but worth repeating Runkeeper and Pandora!

Words (Scrabble, against friends)
Nutrition
Camera One - a decent camera app that lets you zoom
Red Box
Skee Ball
Echofon (for twitter)
Red Laser (scan bar codes and see if its cheaper somewhere else close by)
Unblock (block game)
Line Up
Letter Quiz
Fish Frenzy
Doodly Jump
Checkers
Hearts
Make me a Princess
Countdown (I have countdowns to the kids birthdays as well as vacation, the kids love it)
Shazam - A must have!

I also have bump and daily digi but forgot because they were on the back page!

Lucrecia - that countdown one would be great for my kids too, but I can't find it in the app store. Is that the correct name for it? Thanks!

nm! Somehow I wasn't searching for apps when I typed it in...found it now!

Got an iTouch... the ipad looks SUPER cool, but with the new house being built, I'm on a budget... will have to wait.

Some I've not yet seen mentioned- games for kids
DD loves Preschool Lunchbox, Tozzle, Dress Chica and Elmo's Monster Maker. My son loves Zombie Farm (don't ask), Angry Birds, Appzilla (50 games) and Sonic 2.

I think this might only be for the iPhone but one of my favorite apps is the Sleep Cycle alarm clock. It uses the accelerometer in the phone to judge your movement and then wakes you up at the best time in your sleep cycle so you can avoid that whole groggy alarm clock wake-up feel. I never thought it would work but I've been using it for a few months now and it's really made a big difference for me.
