Default Math Question

I'm trying to figure out what class I want to take this summer and I'm horrible at math, There is an Intro to Statistics class, I'm wondering if that's really hard?

The highest math I took in High School was Algebra I and Geometry, and I probably averaged C's, that was 11 years ago.

It works with my Digital Imaging II class that I'm going to take, as far as the times and I'd only have to be at school twice a week.

As a math person, I think you either get statistics, or you don't. I'm more on the "don't" side, lol.

If the schedule fits and you have to take it eventually, you might as well get it out of the way. When I was in college I took care of as many general non-major type classes as I could, as early as I could. Then my last 2 years were really focused on my major.

I'd say go for the Stats class. I hate math, but I was able to get through Stats 1 in college with some studying.

I'm with Col. Either you get it or you don't. I'm good with algebra and basic math, awful at geometry and anything having to do with shapes. I found statistics pretty easy. Andrew's a math genius. I'm in awe of what he can do with numbers. He just told me that he loathed his statistics course, that it was just something he couldn't wrap his brain around at all.

I am a math geek. And I spent last year working as a tutor in my college learning center. I can tell you that Algebra is my choice. I think the stats class was harder to explain, and people just didn't get it, no matter who was teaching it.

I majored in economics (which has a lot of calculus), but my statistics for economics class was my hardest one. I'm not sure about an intro to stats class, but it could be tricky. I would look into an algebra II class since you didn't do that in high school.

I'm not a math person at all, but I love statistics! I'd say go for it, but that's just me personally.

I loved and did well in geometry, trigonometry and algebra, but sucked in calculus. I've never done stats so I'm not sure if I'd be good at it or not.

I just found an English class that will fit my schedule for the summer, so I'll take math in the fall. They'll offer more then too.

Looks like you already made a decision... if you have to take Stats... take it in the summer. That is what I did and since it was a shorten time, it went by faster.

I was going to say the same thing. I'll take calculus over stats any day.

I agree with Col too, stats is definitely one of those things you either get or you don't and I definitely didn't lol! I think I even took it in the summer and it was one of my most hated classes of my 4 yrs of college, I'd take college algebra over it any day! The only reason anyone in my class passed was thanks to a guy who was an engineer or something at Boeing was taking the class with his wife to help her out and could explain it to us better than the course instructor!!

I love anything related to math but now that Ive been out of school for so long I find even some basic algebra/geometry stuff hard to remember how to do it. Like intergers and remembering the formulas for figuring out area and circumference or remembering the order to do an algebraic expression in and other things like that. It isnt that I cant do them I just forgot the rules/formulas and have to be reminded of them to do them. So if I was to take a math class like you are doing after being out of school for so long I would probably go for something to refresh those things I learned in school before taking something that might be a little more difficult KWIM?

I love math and I'm a math nerd (math ed major...) and had one stats class and thought it was nothing like the rest of the math classes but was still pretty easy. I think I took it in the summer too and it was much better that way... but I like your plan to do english in the summer, that was nice too.

DITTO...A in Stats, had to drop intro to college algebra. There's a lot more verbal context to stats, which is what makes it work for me.
