Default CS4 to CS6?

So I just got my new computer and upgraded photoshop as well. I've been on CS4 since early 2009 so this is a weird adjustment for me. Anything I need to be aware of as big differnces? anything cool to play with?

I like the way we do paths now, on CS6, compared to CS4 (I went from CS4 to CS6 too.. I did CS5 for a VERYYYYYYY short time.... so I don't really count it...lol). I like that when you create a shape, you can up at the top choose to stroke it, not stroke it, color it, etc... I love that its all right there.

I just upgraded. It's so speedy. And brushes up to 5000px make me ridiculously happy. I never used CS4 to compare tho.

I'm loving that the dark colors are back. I missed the dark!

I like the darker workspace as well, it's easier on the eyes for sure.

I think I need to make that same upgrade before the end of the year... Aren't they limited the versions you can skip after 2012? Hmmm... I feel like I know something about this.

Yes. You have until the end of the year to upgrade at upgrade pricing from CS3 and above to CS6. Starting in January, you can only upgrade from the prior version to the newest- so CS6 to CS7, and so on. That's why I upgraded now instead of waiting for CS7 to come out. Really annoyed by it.

Um - did CS4 have the Mini Bridge? I went from CS3 to CS6, so I'm not sure on all the comparisons. LOVE Mini Bridge, though.

I have a copy of CS4 that DH got from his old job. Not sure we will be able to upgrade. Has anybody gotten a copy through the educational discount? It is the full version on PS?

Academic versions are exactly the same as the non-academic versions. Just cheaper.

Yes, I have academic version of CS6 suite. It's supposed to be same as full version!

CS4 didn't have mini bridge, it came in CS5 version. I like mini bridge but I like even more that mini bridge gives me the capability to use my full size bridge, like a mini.... Just more space n I like how my full size is set up better than mini... But now I can drag n drop right to my layout from full size bridge.

I am checking out the Adobe Creative Cloud that I got a deal on for $19.99 a month if I choose to stay (I have 30 days to decide) and love the freedom of getting all the Adobe products and not worrying that I paid XYZ and now the software is outdated cuz Adobe has released another version. I am still trying to do the math and also decide if I will use the 18 products they offer with this but so far loving CS6.
