Default Laptop Recommendations?

Hey everyone! It's a loooong story, and I won't go into it, but I think I'm gonna have to return my laptop back to the person who sold it to me. I've been using a Macbook Air 11 inch, late 2010 release, 4GB RAM.

I need something that has a decent amount of memory for all my photos and scrapbook pages and can run PS easily. I don't have a ton of money to spend at this time unfortunately. Any recommendations? I really don't know where to start.

if Windows I would advise staying away from cheap Toshiba computers as I have had 3 and they all overheat really easily

I would prefer a Mac, but I'm not sure I can afford one.

My husband ordered mine so I don't remember the prices but when he researched it, he discovered a gaming laptop would be best. It can handle the demand PS has. I have a Lenovo Ideapad that's been great! I've had it for 2 years & it's still working like a champ. I can add more ram, another fan, etc. It's really nice...but I don't remember the cost
