Default Drag and drop issue

I did a Windows 10 update last night and now my drag and drop doesn't work anymore! I can't drag and drop from downloads to new folders, I can't drag png files and drop into Photoshop! How am I supposed to scrap??

Anybody has experienced this and knows how to fix it? I did a quick google search and tried a couple things but it doesn't work.

I'm sure that you've rebooted your computer. I use the Open File option when I scrap and have not tried the drag and drop. Maybe you could limp through with that until it's fixed.

Thanks Lynn! I didn't even think of that. When you're used to doing something that works it's hard to switch to another method.

Oh I know! I've had to get used to Windows 10 and PSE2020 after using the same programs for 14 years. I can't help but think, "I'm too old for this. . ." lol

That happened to me too. I did a defrag and a restart and it worked again.

drag and drop never worked for me with PS, I just use the open option! I'm glad you figured it out! When all else fails, just shut down and reboot!

I'm so glad you got it to work! I haven't been able to get to my computer yet because the kitchen cabinets are being painted. I was afraid I would have an issue!

Just curious what you did to fix it? I have the issue too- but it's super sporadic. I think it's when I have WAY too much stuff open at once- and of course it happens right in the middle of my project, not when I'm wrapping up! I have found that if I just close everything out & restart, it works again just fine, but that's a hassle sometimes too!

This happens to me but ONLY when PS is running. And it is a very random occurrence too. Restarting Photoshop fixes it, but I'd love a permanent fix.

I usually drag and drop too. When you use open file, do you have to open every element or can you open a whole kit for example?

so happy it is working for you again so frustrating when drag & drop doesn't work. I have this happen to me once in a while (when I scrap a lot in one day) and all I have to do is restart photoshop and I'm good to go again (just in case you have this happening again ).

Cindi, you have to open every element. I usually open elements, close them all and then open papers. It's a pain, but my machine isn't the most powerful.

Actually that was a different issue. I have the same issue when I scrap every once in a while and a simple save and restart Photoshop does the job for me.
But this time it was the whole computer that I couldn't drag and drop. I couldn't move files from the desktop or the downloads (like when I unzip new products and want to organize them, I couldn't do that anymore)
What I did was a bit technical and I couldn't even tell you what I did. I just followed instructions that I found online. Maybe that fixed it or maybe if I had just restarted the computer it would have been fixed. Who knows.
